Fellow Klovr's, what should I do with this game?

Interesting story behind this Cabal(old Track and Field cab). A decade ago I aquired it in a mini bulk buy. I gave it to my nephew(he was a teen at the time). 10 years later he gave it back.

I'm not too thrilled with Cabal, although it is kind of fun. I has 2 trackballs on it for 2 players at the same time. I found out that the early T&F cabs had trackballs, the later ones had buttons. I don't think I have ever played T&F, but I heard it is fun. This one has a T&F tag that says game # 8757.

Should I restore it back to T&F, sell off the Cabal parts? Jammatize it? Leave it as is? Sell it as is? The cab is in excellent shape except for the left front corner which could be easily covered with a corner protector.

Please give me your opinions, I'd love to hear them....

On KLOV the only acceptable course of action is reverting it back to whatever God intended it to be... That said, do whatever you want to do with it.

Nice solid cab and T&F is an excellent game. All the repro parts are available. Looks like you have a nice restore project ahead of you. I'll be looking for your post over in the restoration section. :)

Edit: since it's already stripped, would make a good mame cab running all the Track and Field variants.

T&F is a great game (especially if you have people to play with you). Sell off all the cabal stuff, and use the money for the resto. Don't use the TB CP though. Buttons are the only way to go IMO.

+1 for converting back to Track and Field.

Track & Field and Hypersports are both so much fun. If I had that cab, I'd be working on converting it back already.

Restore. Go with buttons and clean it up then add Hypersports with a switcher and you will have a great 2 player game. It got tons of play when buddies came over.

Who has the repro side art, cpo, etc?

Agreed with all T&F is an outstanding game would love to have one myself one day. Restore that bad boy, sell off the Cabal I'm sure someone would want it.

Why not just run the game "Boot Camp" in it? Same game as Hypersports and T+F, just with an army twist. That way you can just keep using that cpo.

just a thought.

The buttons version was the original. The trackball stuff was just a conversion kit from Stern that came out about 6+ months after the game was released. (yes Stern, not Konami. Remember... Stern also used the Konami pinout for their games back then)

The trackball kit was kinda lame because it took the "speed" aspect completely out of the game. With the buttons, if your fingers weren't fast, then you needed more practice. With the trackball, EVERYONE was able to achieve full speed.

Yeah, do this. No trackballs for track and field, buttons only. Now I myself really like Cabal so I would stick it into a generic cabinet and restore the t and f.

That's a silly question to be asking John. Make sure this comes next right after your other Sea Wolf resto....

OBTW, you going to Keith's pinball party next Saturday? Apparently I'm not welcomed!

I did a T&F resto, it was a pretty easy process and that one you have looks a whole lot better than the one I started with. I also had a Hypersports but never got around to a resto and sold it to another KLOV'r.

I just can't get into these two games. That's why I sold out. I think there were some other sports games that work in this set up (88 games? and maybe one other japanese only game). When I bought the Hypersports game the seller was a T&F nut and had 4-5 cabs and tons of boards and parts.

I'm currently restoring a Hyper Sports. The hardest part to find is an unhacked control panel. Finally found one after months and months of looking from a fellow KLOV'er. Luckily with T&F the board is easier to find and a lot less expensive. Bob Roberts sells replacement button sets. Prok has posted the blue paint code for T&F - http://www.gamestencils.com/index.php?sc_page=41. You'll need to prime over the black laminate - it's near impossible to remove...I recommend BIN primer...it's worked out well for me. Also, you can get the Konami/Jamma adapter from a couple of places (bob roberts & Lizard lick)..that way you won't have to mess with the harness (also you could add a jamma switcher later as someone already mentioned so you can play HS & T&F or 88 Games).

I haven't been invited anywhere as of right now....

Thanks everyone, for the links and your opinions. I'm glad to see there is interest in T&F...
