Feeling very thankful. One game goes. Another game arrives.

This pretty much sums up my day:

5AM: Hec (Fly) arrives at my home from Socal. Yes, he is hardcore.
6AM: Hec leaves with Red Tent with a big smile on his face, eager to break some records.
8AM: Go to work.
12PM: Lunch. Dude drops off Double Dragon at my place.
1PM: Go back to work.
5PM: Go home.
10PM: Clean and troubleshoot Double Dragon.
11PM: Stand back and soak it in.

I know I've had a couple of threads already concerning Double Dragon, but I'll just say again that this was one of the first arcade games I remember playing as a kid (Came out in '87. I probably played it first in '88 or '89 when I was 5 or 6). My older brother let me play along with him and being 5 or 6 years old, it was just plain awesome. This is definitely a game that brings back memories and has serious nostalgic value to me.

Pros:
- It's an early dedicated Taito cab with the red/orange screen printed side art and is in great condition overall with the exception of damage in one bottom corner.
- Inside was clean, just dusty. Finally, a cab with no rodent crap or a million dead bugs.
- Monitor looks great after some adjustments.
- All artwork is in good condition.
- Control panel isn't half bad for being original. It could use a touch up.
- I won't need to restore the cab other than repairing the corner eventually.

Cons:
- PCB (Japanese) and JAMMA connector have corrosion leading to various issues. Luckily, I had another PCB to swap in there. I plan on replacing the entire JAMMA harness.
- JAMMA wiring was hacked up and done very poorly. My other thread about this.
- Missing top marquee bracket.
- Missing casters.

I'm very happy overall and always love the feeling of experiencing my childhood all over again.

Very nice!! Double Dragon was awesome back then and even til today it is still awesome i still enjoy playing it

very nice... great pickup.
I gots some parts for this machine!

I'm not a big fan of the game but that is one nice looking machine, congrats on the new addition.

I doubt I have anything that 'new', but that looks nice! After addressing the wiring issues, it will be a very nice piece.

Good grab. I remember playing DD when I was about 12. The place was a crappy hot dog joint that had a pretty good arcade. The food was nasty but the games were good. Double Dragon, Tetris, Rampage, TMNT. Those were all fairly new at the time. They had a good selection of others but I don't remember them. I can't seem to remember any early 80s classics. IIRC, the place is a Salvation Army now. At any rate, I can remember rocking out on Double Dragon there. Great game.

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I figured most guys in here wouldn't be a fan of this pick up. But it's definitely a nice cab and it means a lot to me. It will be fun to play it again with my brother when he comes to visit.

Congrats Jess. I hate to see your Red Tent leave though. Always nice to get a game that gives you feelings of the simple days of youth!!! BTW that game is a lot of fun!!!

Nice! I have had a DD on the backburner forever. Your control panel is def in better shape than mine. I'm gonna have to bust out my art skills and re-hand paint mine (I'm 95% sure it is painted instead of being a giant sticker...which is one of the reasons I dig original DD's). Another plus, DD2, 3 and Final Fight should plug right in just in case you get tired of DD1. :)

The parts that I got for one have a CP where the original overlay is definately a silk screened overlay. I wonder if they have some silk screened on wood ones like the stenciled cabs. Is yours a stenciled side one like the one eseyo shows here?

I haven't even taken pictures of my cab but it was coverted so I got all of the pieces for a DD kit so that I could restore mine.

Arcadeoverlays.com has a reprint CPO for like 40 that I'm consideringbut it will be way more vibrant looking than anything else in my art set.

My sideart is the other Taito version (gray background, red/black/white for the Taito art...same model as the one on the KLOV entry). I'll go out to the garage later tonight and quadruple check the CP, but I am really confident mine is painted based off how it is wore down. Again, I could be wrong though. :p

I understand your joy. DD is also one of the first arcade games I remember playing. I just couldn't believe at the beginning of the game a guy just punches a chick. It really blew me away seeing that.

I can't wait to get one. Congrats!

Nice looking machine. I always loved those cabs and the slide out drawer is awesome.

Yeah, it's super convenient. It's basically an open drawer where the PCB sits and you can remove it very easily. There's also an interconnect switch for the drawer in addition to the back door. Behind where the PCB sits is a wire hub where all the connections lead. Behind that, is the power supply and iso transformer. Swapping out the JAMMA harness will be really easy since all the connections are in one place. To my surprise, there's a metal volume pot and test switch attached to the back side of front panel right next to the coin door. I just adjusted the volume on the PCB to a moderate level and adjusted the volume in the cab. Great cabinet design to say the least.

Also, thanks to Prairied1ll0 and Bob Roberts, I'm able to swap out the ugly joysticks for pretty Wico ball tops. Blue one is coming from Bob.
