Feeling very thankful. One game goes. Another game arrives.
This pretty much sums up my day:
5AM: Hec (Fly) arrives at my home from Socal. Yes, he is hardcore.
6AM: Hec leaves with Red Tent with a big smile on his face, eager to break some records.
8AM: Go to work.
12PM: Lunch. Dude drops off Double Dragon at my place.
1PM: Go back to work.
5PM: Go home.
10PM: Clean and troubleshoot Double Dragon.
11PM: Stand back and soak it in.
I know I've had a couple of threads already concerning Double Dragon, but I'll just say again that this was one of the first arcade games I remember playing as a kid (Came out in '87. I probably played it first in '88 or '89 when I was 5 or 6). My older brother let me play along with him and being 5 or 6 years old, it was just plain awesome. This is definitely a game that brings back memories and has serious nostalgic value to me.
Pros:
- It's an early dedicated Taito cab with the red/orange screen printed side art and is in great condition overall with the exception of damage in one bottom corner.
- Inside was clean, just dusty. Finally, a cab with no rodent crap or a million dead bugs.
- Monitor looks great after some adjustments.
- All artwork is in good condition.
- Control panel isn't half bad for being original. It could use a touch up.
- I won't need to restore the cab other than repairing the corner eventually.
Cons:
- PCB (Japanese) and JAMMA connector have corrosion leading to various issues. Luckily, I had another PCB to swap in there. I plan on replacing the entire JAMMA harness.
- JAMMA wiring was hacked up and done very poorly. My other thread about this.
- Missing top marquee bracket.
- Missing casters.
I'm very happy overall and always love the feeling of experiencing my childhood all over again.
