Feeling stupid: How do you remove monitor from Dragon's Lair

Okay - I'm sure there is an easy answer to this, but how exactly do you remove a monitor from a Dragon's Lair / Space Ace cabinet?

In my Nintendo cabinets, there is a little lip on the monitor brackets that support the monitor so you can unscrew it and pull it out the front of the cabinet.

There dosen't seem to be an easy way to remove the DL monitor from the front, and there isn't any lip on the monitor brackets to keep it from falling when I unscrew it.

The only way I can think of removing it is to have a spotter - someone to support the monitor while I remove the screws - or to lay the cabinet on its side (which can't be good for my new side art).

Am I missing something?

Haven't actually tried it myself, but I think if you remove the monitor bracket bolts that mount into the cabinet sides at the rear you would be able to drop the mount brackets down to access the monitor bolts and just slide it out.
I mounted a g07 so I haven't had to remove it to run a cap kit.

So you mean to hinge it backwards (towards the rear of the cabinet) and manually support it while removing the screws from bracket. It's not a bad idea, but given the weight of the monitor and the awkward angle, I'm not sure how I'd put it back in.

Anyone else done this before?

I can't say specifically, but tons of games the monitor comes out the back. That's how I take it out of a Nintendo cabinet for instance. No way to do it from the back?

The Nintendo monitor brackets have a little lip on the bottom that support the monitor when it is unscrewed. It keeps it from sliding off and makes it easy to remove from the front.

The DL brackets don't.

There's also a board in the Donkey Kong style cabinets directly beneith the monitor for additional support. There are two support boards in the Playchoice/Punch-out cabinets. Again no support board in the DL cabinet (at least not in mine).

So I'm just curious how people are unscrewing/unbolting the monitor with one hand while supporting the weight (~50lbs) with the other?

Sorry - like I said, maybe I'm missing something.

Pete

There should be a couple of blocking supports on each side of the cabinet interior. It shouldn't drop all the way down. It should slide in and out along the rails of the brackets that dropped down and are resting on the blocking supports of the cabinet.
Just be careful. Ask a freind for help if your unsure.
