Been thinking of finishing up my DOT restore and offering it up for sale. I'm not sure what it is worth so if you're interested just shoot me an offer. I will not sell it as-is to make it cheaper so don't ask :) Now to the good stuff! The cabinet is solid with no water damage and will have new side art applied. It has a new CPO and stick and will have a new Backlight cover installed once I get it. Also on order are a new Glass Marquee, Glass Bezel and Trans light. The coin door has been repainted with NOS coin chutes installed. Now if the above doesn't sound great this DOT hides some extra goodies! It has speech, the front black light flickers, the Trans light and artwork black light don't engage until the game starts and you're on the Disc. These features aren't hacked in because I used an EDOT wire harness and OEM boards. The game is fully functional and working , but you can't play a 2 –player game because it thinks it's an EDOT which lacked 2-Player. Any questions please ask ! I will get some pics up in the next few days.

Oh boy. I am now into a Tron, and Tron LE (after seeking a UDOT!)

Looking forward to the pics though. I will think it over - although i would expect it to not last....

i would think you could pull 2K out of it pretty easy. Sounds really cool!

Keep in mind this was recorded with and iPhone so the volume is low. Also in this video you can see why I need a new trans light. A warning to others let the dust stay on it unless you want a new one lol ;)

while DOTs are less common that trons and generally command more money, I think $2000 is a bit high. The last couple EDOTs I saw didn't even sell for that much. True they were not restored but I would value an EDOT higher than a DOT. I would also take into account Chris's restored tron that he sold amongst the hype of the new film. Many trons were for sale but it sold for far more than any other tron I saw ever. I would also argue that it is probably the nicest tron anyone has seen since the last new game was uncrated. I would also add to the mix the fact that it took a very long time for a nice unrestored original DOT to sell in CA for $800. Actually I'm not sure it sold for $800 but that was the asking price and it lingered on CL rather than garner a crowd of collectors fighting to be first to score it.

If you want the most cash possible out of it sell it on ebay. Of course if you sell it locally the market of the area you are in will have an effect on the price the game will sell for. Fully restored trons generally sell around $1000-1200. I would think a DOT would be $1200-1400 on average to a serious buyer through KLOV or possibly CL. Ebay buyers could possibly push the game value into the $2000 range IMO.

I got 900$ for one of mine unrestored.. add on the cost of TOG's artwork, the translite, plex cover and cpo and you are probably around 1300$ or so already. The squawk and talk is a 'very' hard pcb to come by, and then you need to hack it in (the edot set would be easier but it doesn't take away from how hard to find that board).. I would say another 200$ or so. So I would say it would cost anyone 1500$ (and he has some other things in there as well like a replacement for the flaking marquee cover and bezel) before their labour. 2K isn't out of the realm of possibility I would think.

BS...this is a $2k machine...a one of a kind. I haven't seen other DOTs with the EDOT setup. Why should it run more than some EDOTs? Because most EDOTs need a lot of work and can't be restored. They also typically have broken chase lights, etc. Additionally, their size actually decreases their value to a certain extent. It's like buying an Afterburner cockpit...cool as Hell, but nobody can fit it in their house, so they're often priced quite reasonably. All I can say is best of luck with the sale...that's a tough one T9 let go.

Derek

BTW- I know what you mean by that translight...a little damp cloth wipe down was quickly followed by many choice words as my cloth was covered in purple..

Paging member More cowbell.

Thanks for thinking of me, guys. I'm still in the market, but $1400 unrestored and $2000 restored is a bit much for me. I'm hoping to find one in the $800-$1000 unrestored range. If anyone has one, still interested here. Derailed thread back on track for this awesome DOT that StrainedSky is feeling out.

My 2 cents....

I saw one of these in fantastic shape yesterday in MD.....Sitting all minty warm in a klov'rs garage...( I didn't even bother asking lol, but it looked like a stack of atleast 15 to 20 hundos to me, I said atleast...) It was minty..no fade, nicks, or any visible flaws.
