Feasibilty of a retrofit tube-swap?

It seems that every TV I find has a CR31 8 pin neck with a yoke that's compatible with a K7000, and not a CR23 10 pin neck. Frustrating, since most of the monitors that I have here that could use a new tube (severe burn) are G07s, K4600s, etc.

Started poking at this G07 that I have here, and I got to thinking: is there a good reason why I couldn't swap the neckboards? The driving voltages have got to be roughly the same for both (maybe, I'd have to measure), the heater voltages are the same...I'd just have to figure out which connections go where.

You've got red, green, blue, ground, G2 voltage, focus...

It would be a little bit of work on each one, to figure out where stuff goes, but for a source of "new" tubes...
 
I'm following this. I have a Galaga I don't want to put a LCD in, but I'm sick of trying to find original parts or trying to converge a monitor after a tube swap.
 
What is important to note before you try just swapping neck boards are the deflection coils resistance readings. If the resistance is far apart from the G07's or WG7000's you will have to transplant the coils as well.

Explain this further. The neckboard should only be driving the colours on/off, the heater, the screen voltage, etc etc.
 
I have a theory about hi vs low impedance yokes. Basically the Vertical has two sets of windings. Each winding is approx 24 ohms. If you put both windings in series, you get 48 ohms (Hi impedance). If you put both windings in parallel, you get 12 ohms ( low impedance). If you could get to the physical connections, if my theory was correct, you could switch the windings from series to parallel or vice versa, and use the yoke.
