I would think that would be awful, in terms of showing dust, etc.?I've had mine redone three times in 15 years. I keep choosing black. It just looks awesome.
The people we used for recovering the tables stretched the bed cloth till it was underneath the edge of the slate at the pockets. Then it was contact cemented underneath the bottom of the slate. At no time was glue used on the playing area of the bed. Rails were always stretched and stapled (no glue). Our people always had spare recovered Valley rails in 4 x 8 and 3.5 x 7 table size ready-to-go to speed up the work. On the Dynamo tables we had, the original Dynamo rails got replaced with Valley rails (directly interchangeable). The Dynamo rails were crap and got thrown directly into the garbage can.Glue? I am getting old. When I worked for a billiards company many many years ago, they had a full time team of table professionals. There were french polishers to do the woodwork finishing, general cabinet workers and felt specialists, that is an indication of how well they were done.
All bed and cushion cloths were stretched and stapled, no glue (it would make the machined slate surface uneven and change the lay of the felt).
Tables ranged from pub use (that they operated) all the way up to professional tables for tournaments (played by full time snooker/billiards professionals) and exclusive clubs.
This table reminds me of the snooker table where I used to work. It was donated to a veterans hospital back in the 40's and is a beautiful piece of art. It has been restored at least twice from the tags on it and is in dire need of saving again.I guess it depends on your definition of awful.View attachment 502443

Good catch! They went from "autistic" to "acoustic" and are back to their original condition. The pool table looks great.
Sorry about your autistic panels.
Bright colours show everything. Were they using corresponding coloured chalk, or just blue?Longtime ago there was a strip joint with 2 Valley pool tables done up with pink cloth per request by owner.
Looked good , but boy did it amplify any chalk used .
