I have been spending a good bit of time w/ Jr Pac lately, and I think its becoming my favorite of the Pac bunch. Its challenging as all hell, and I like how the mazes are big enough to scroll left and right. Pac Man is kind of boring to me in that the maze is the exact same. Ms Pac is cool with the 4 different mazes, and the moving fruit, but I like the challenge of Jr the best. The little prizes that come out and change the pellets is also an added bonus on the challenge front, and the cut scenes are cool, too. Im still learning the ways of the Jr Pac, but for my money, this one is probably the best.

Yeah, I had one for about 6 months. It was more elaborate, but no one ever played it. I hated the slow pellets. It does have a lot more going for it, but I'll still take Pacman.

Hijack.. =)

Could a Pacman board be converted to Jr. Pac?

Do the boards look simular?

I picked up a non working/tested Jr. Pac off E-bay ($10)

It looks like a Pac Man board in the pic.. no daughter card but whole row 5 is socketed (I think)

Jr needs more ram for the bigger playfield, and it needs the playfield scroller circuit...

I was thinking about doing a kit to play the other pacs on Jr, but never sat down to see what those PALS do...

Yep, I agree... Jr. Pac-Man is much better than Pac-Man and at least a little better than Ms. Pac-Man.

Oh, I like Jr. Better than Pacman and about the same as Ms. Pac

The first ones just have more nostalgia/memories attached!!!

I remember going to an arcade while visiting in FL, and Ms Pac had just come out. The place had 12-15 of them lined up on a wall!!!!!!

Love Junior myself! However I personally think any speed hack version is superior to the original version. I seriously can't stand the original speed, in fact everyone that comes to my house plays speed hack. It's friggin cool that you get so far into it that the ghosts no longer change (become etible) they only change direction. I've accomplished 254,000 on Ms Pac speed hack. :)
Think about this - you can't eat ghosts anymore and solely rely upon fruit and pellets. When you hit ~160,000 points that's when it starts becomming hard as hell. Your score just crawles at that point.

Actually I think Super Pac isn't half bad. Never played it back in the day but I got one for $50 a while back.

However I still think Ms. Pac is the best of the bunch. Certainly the most popular one here in the US. I wonder why the rest of the world never got into Ms. Pac. Of all the classic arcade games, I think the two games that could truly be considered classic are Galaga and Ms. Pac. After almost 30 years these games are still commonly in service and casual players still put quarters in them. Those two games will outlive us all. Not sure about the other games we consider to be classics.

I wish I still had my JR Pac, but the cabinet was literally dissolving due to water damage, but I held on to it long enough to develop a real affinity for it. Great game.

You DO need speedup though, especially with the slowdown dots.

Pacmania is a better game than Jr.

Jr with speedup is too fast and without is too slow. I wish there was a way to get an inbetween chip because with the speedup the game is way too easy.

I love my Mappy-style Jr Pac. Love it. It is indeed my favorite of the Pac series. However, back in the day I played Ms Pac much more, but that probably had more to do with availability than anything else. Even the local grocery store had a Ms Pac and Galaga back by the meat section.

Joe, did you get a Jr or are you playing this on mame?
