What Gauntlet is your favorite and why?

I always preferred II over the original and Dark Legacy over Legends myself.

Bonus question: What is your favorite class to play?

The og gauntlets were fun at the time but my favorite is probably legends. Played it a lot on the dreamcast and would then go to the arcade and extend my quarter on it. Always warrior class.

I played Legends the most I think. A super cool game that was yanked from my local pizza restaurant too quickly. I have played Gauntlet and Gauntlet II more on the NES than in arcades.

The music and the sounds of Gauntlet are a nostalgia bomb for me, would love to own the cabinet. When I was a kid my grandmother would go shopping at a thrift store and a short walk away was another department store that had Gauntlet and I would beg for quarters. Don't think I've even played Gauntlet 2 on the arcade. Also really enjoyed Gauntlet on the NES.

Wasn't really a fan of the more modern Gauntlet's. I still play modern games, I don't know what it was but Dark Legacy/Legends just didn't have the same charm.

I love both Gauntlet I and II, pretty much equally. Used to go to Time Out with some college friends, and we'd each take a roll of quarters, and play all day.

I prefer playing Elf, but could also play Valkyrie pretty well.

I really dig the Elf myself, and my backup is the Wizard.

+1 .... originals are classic.

Definitely the first two, and Gauntlet II was awesome with the more involvement they added to the game, but even the simplicity of the first is still fun. Such a great multiplayer game. Elf or Valkyrie all the way. Never was good with the wizard.

Having said that, a group of us had fun with the PC version of Gauntlet which I feel is much better than the dark legacy run of the games.

Wow, I wasn't even aware of that version of Gauntlet! I know what I'm doing when I move to a place with internet!

Never played much of the OG ones and hear that II was the best of the OG. I grew up with Legends and Dark Legacy but I prefer Dark Legacy because of what has been added on and expanded from Legends.

I literally just got an 1985 gauntlet board running!

Spent an hour playing it without even realizing it! I love it like beer! Its the best!!! I've always been fond of wizards, and that is who I play in game 😁

I've been addicted to the first gauntlet since I first played it at a local pizzeria when I was younger, and on the NES. So, when I got an original cabinet that was converted into an NBA Jam I had to convert it back. I've probably put more time into playing that game than any of my other games combined, but I still suck at it. Wizard or elf always.

The original Gauntlet is what got me into this hobby.
I remember when I was younger going into the local mall Arcade and playing the shit out of it.
Was fortunate enough when I started getting into purchasing Arcade games to find someone locally that had one.
Now I have the original one I purchased as well as Gauntlet II.
Both are sitting side by side in my Arcade.
Probably will never get rid of either one.
My favorite character is Merlin.
Never really liked Thor or Thyre due to them being so slow.

Isn't 2 more preferred from an ergonomics standpoint as you can play any character from any position, where 1 forces you into the spot and coin slot?

I have board with 2 player roms that I sometimes put in my machine, it allows you to select your character for the first Gauntlet just like you can on Gauntlet 2.
