what is your favorite pin from your favorite designer and why?

feel free to list more than 1 pin/designer

I've got to say Steve Richie. I know real original....

I just like too many of his games, like T2, Firepower, F-14, etc. I would own any of them. He usually has good to great themes, great flow, and just solid designs. Always seemed to have some kind of new and different element in his games, and they are just a lot of fun.

I never knew it but my favorite designer at the moment is John Trudeau as you can see from my current line up ;)

I think he is very underrated despite his other great titles like Judge Dredd, Black Rose, Bride of Pinbot and Hollywood Heat. I think in an interview Steve Richie himself even admitted to Hollywood Heat being his favorite Trudeau game too.

Another designer I really like is Dennis Nordman who is part of the Jersey Jack Pinball development team. He's done some pretty wild games and has wicked ramps on most if not all his tables like Party Zone and another popular title of his would be White Water.

My dream one day on top of my existing line up is to the have at least two from each designed:

The Party Zone, Indianapolis 500 or White Water by Dennis Nordman
Funhouse, Earthshaker or Roadshow by Pat Lawlor
High Speed, Getaway or Rollergames by Steve Ritchie
Monster Bash, Revenge from Mars or Johnny Mnemonic by George Gomez
Theatre of Magic, Cirqus Voltaire or Tales from the Arabian Nights by John Popadiuk
Taxi, Fishtales by Mark Ritchie

John Popadiuk CV,TOM,WCS,TOTAN,close 2nd is Lawlor FH,RS,NGG.Not a big fan of Lawlors stern titles, owned two and sold them within a month.Only bought them because of Lawlor, thought they would be typical of his greatness, but found they were "cheap" IMHO

Big fan of John Trudeau. Designed a lot of great games, took a lot of chances with new concepts. Great integration of toys. I will be adding a JD one day soon. Super-close, almost tied for 1st, would be Steve Ritchie.

I'm a obviously a MUCH bigger fan of JT than mwong168! :p

At least my basement is finished :p Thanks for the offer last week about coming over to play Congo before I got mine. Such a great game and I'm consistently able to score over a billion and the other day got grand champion at 1.8 billion and I think almost 100 diamonds collected. It's like a poor man's IJ lol

Well, Mike, you're assuming my basement wasn't finished to begin with and I tore the drywall down because I favored the 'pink insulation' look!

Btw, crank those rear levelers and put the playfield glass back on. Geez.

Just for you :)

So maybe I will come over to play your TX-Sector one of these days.
*sigh* If you were paying attention to my TX-Sector video thread on MAACA, you would have noticed that I already posted that video ... 3 DAYS ago!?! I'm clearly the bigger JT fan but you should feel relieved you're not a Lawlor, stop'n'go, lemming (except for his early System 11s).

Btw, come on over and play TX next SB auction. I will likely invite a bunch of the other addicts over that day.

Steve Ritchie

High Speed (Firepower and Spider-Man very close seconds...although Firepower for the same reasons as HS). Ritchie has by far the best sense of physical action based gameplay out of the top designers imo. Flow is what we all associate with his stuff, but there is something very dynamic about some of his better games even when the ball is not flying through ramps. *I* think he is one of the few designers that shines when he is not given a deep rule set to work with. His playfields are deceptively simple, but have a ton of depth on the physical side of the game. HS/FS are two of the best to show this off IMO. I can play both for HOURS and not get sick of either.

Hell...I'll list #2:

Gomez

Lord and Johnny. Johnny because I enjoy the little clever design choices throughout (the glove matrix in particular). It's also one of his crazier flow related designs. The ball gets flying very, very fast. Lord is deep as shit ruleset wise while containing a very fun physical game. There isn't a shot on that playfield that doesn't feel nice to hit.

High Speed and Johnny M are must owns for my collection. I can play both all night long, wake up and think about playing some more. :)

Seems to be the preferred look for most, my basement was finished fortunately when I got the house. I asked Chris B if he planned on finishing his basement but he said the amount of shuffling he would have to do would be too much work but then again someone did get him a dolly lift at his last GTG so maybe he has plans to in the future.

My hats off to you and I'm slowly learning more about JT and how great his games are and had no idea about TX-Sector. How long have you had yours and was it in nice shape when you got it? BTW, my glass is always on and left the leg leveller the way AncientGames adjusted it when he sold it to me :)

This one's easy for me. After playing lots of pins, sometimes not even realizing who the designer was until later, I came to realize that the designer I prefer most as I like every pin of his I've played is Dennis Nordman.

WH20 is my favorite of his, but even titles like WoF are excellent.

Can't wait to see what he does for Jersey Jack's second pin!
