Honorable mention to Atari Jaguar. Not many good games but there were a few that were awesome. Aliens vs. Pred. and Tempest 2000 on that thing rocked!

I actually have the Tempest 2000 Soundtrack

Colecovision has my vote. mybe becuase i never had one, everytime i went to my friends house we would play for hours i would love to pick one up. the only two game i remember player are boxing and some type of tank game. the controlers are different than anything i have ever used

I'd have to go with NES 8-bit, considering my sizeable collection and how that damn grey box ran our lives as kids!

It wouldn't let me submit a vote however...

I concur Karl, 8-bit Nintendo is home console king.

[edit] ...or the Atari 2600, but my parents would never let me have one growing up as a kid.

The first console game you could change games on I ever had was an Atari 2600. I had a standalone Pong before that. I got a Commodore 64 later. It was better than the 2600. Got an IBM clone running DOS and Win 3.1 after that as well as an NES. Liked the NES, I must say. I have also had a Super NES, N64 and GameCube and my brother has had a PlayStation and Playstation 2. Also had Win 95, 98 and XP. Got Ubuntu Linux but don't use it. No hard drive to install it on.

My first home game was in the early 80's. It was some plug and play Pong rip off that I wish I could remember what it was because it was actually pretty fun and it was this cool blue and silver color. It had about ten or so Pong style games to choose from on it. Then my uncle handed down his 2600 to me one Christmas soon after and an Atari love affair was born.

It was good for it's day. Now, no, but then, cool (until the ColecoVision came along).

I agree when you put it in those terms. I just felt like they had the market cornered and phoned it in. Colecovision was a far better system (IMO) but atari was first.

This is tough. I came of age as a video game player when the 2600 was coming out and I really loved that. Probably played a bit more NES ultimately though. I've even been playing it again lately. Trying to take the Packers all the way in Tecmo Super Bowl(still one of my favorite football games).

I should add that I am also a big fan of the Intellivision. Utopia (see my avatar) is easily one of my favorite games of all time on any console..

My uncle's 2600 became mine in about '80 or '81 and it was all I ever needed up until I got a Nintendo in the late 80's. I was a thrift store junkie in the 90's and I ended up buying a Colecovision, Intellivision, and an Odyssey. They were good, and in some ways better, I'll admit. I especially like that Colecovision had alot of add on things you could get like the cool steering wheel and gas pedal. And every once in a while, I get an urge to play Mousetrap again. But I really love the Atari and most of it's titles. Especially the Activision and Imagic titles. I still have my original(I've amassed about 250 cartridges at this point) and continue to play it almost everyday.
