When I'm done playing my games (i.e. too drunk), I love to watch the attract modes. They have great graphics and sound, and you get to see the levels that most people will never get to.

My favorites are:

Classic:
Pleiads
Gyruss

Modern:
Pulsar on Neo Geo
Punisher
X-Men Children of the Atom

The two big ones that I remember back from my days in the arcade the most are Street Fighter 2, and then some time later Daytona USA.
Even today when I hear those two games in their attract mode, the memories and sensations of the arcade come rushing back.

Also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gets an honorable mention here.

There are others I remember of course, but those are the most special to me.

pole position attract signal sounds. in the mid 80s there wasnt an arcade that didnt at least have one of those things doing the beep beep beep boop. LOL

I want to see all 3 monsters die on the same attract screen in Rampage
Otherwise its pretty boring i guess, same movements on the same level each time, only random in items, bad guys, and dying (life carries over if they don't die

Its been close, but i try not to waste much time watching it ;)

I remember being completely mesmerized by the attract mode of Star Trek, but that was the first (and only) vector game I ever saw back in the day. And my Dad wouldn't let me play it. The jerk!

Robotron... it has the name of my Arcade on it... :)

Pole position is definately a favorite, and Radikal Bikers has grown on everyone in my house.

TMNT and Lost Tomb get annoying, fast...

Not TRON, that's for god damn sure

our board came with the suppressor clipped, and I start to blink wildly and twitch my chin when I hear the "beaming up" sound every 10 mins at the shop

Pole Position is one I remember well, too. If I ever need to get my Pole Position attract-mode sound fix I just watch on of John's Arcade videos on youtube...

I know this is a bit odd, but I have always liked Track and Field and Super Basketball's attract modes.

Another attract mode I liked going all the way back to the early 80's was Omega Race because you can actually play it. Well, sort of. Many of you may know this, but you can fire for the ship in the attract mode. I rememer as a kid sitting in my local arcade's cockpit OR waiting for the gameplay demonstration and seeing how many ememies I could pick off...no quarter needed. haha

For me the Laserdisc games really had a 'wow factor' when I first saw them. After playing the classics for years they really stood out.

Dragons Lair
Space Ace
M.A.C.H. 3
Cube Quest

Non LD games would be

Star Wars (SD)
Afterburner Deluxe (Loved the stereo sound)
Mortal Kombat (Just for the crazy fatalties that would play from time to time)

Obviously when video games first came out they all had a small wow factor to them but looking back at them now a lot of them had very "meh" attract modes.

Tutankham!

This. Great music. I'm picking up a practically mint condition Tutankham tonight after looking in vain for one for the last two years.

Agree with others on Pole Position as well. The game has been growing on me and I may have to get an upright at some point.
