I don't mean most collectible, or the most expensive, or the one someone told you was the coolest, etc. I mean, which title do you own and LOVE to play repeatedly? Which one gives you 'that' feeling every time you fire it up? For me, there are 2 that really excite me.

1. Centipede
Yeah I know it's slower paced than Millipede and you can get one on any city's CL for about $300 or so, but to me, this is the Atari Title that really brings me back. I can play several games in a row and never get tired of it. Love the sounds, love the sights, love the game play. That opening 'doot doot doot' bass sound gets my heart rate up, and the spider's tingling theme music makes my skin crawl. Who doesn't have that 'Flea Falling' sound embedded in their brains?

2. Asteroids Deluxe
Now this title was actually new to me when I picked it up back in '06. I had always played Asteroids BITD, and don't think I ever played (or even saw) a Deluxe back then. Since I've owned it, it's one of the few titles that I will play at least one game of every time I see it turned on. The cabinet is great, the floating screen is genius, and the killer satellite amps up the danger level.

I agree with your choices 100%. Also like Paperboy.

Crystal Catles though I didn;t plsu this till around 89
Tempest
Centipede
Gauntlet (Like this one but found out there was no end so I don;t see the point in owning one but I might one day if I can get it cheap.)
Pole Position
Badlands
Road Riot 4wd Dedicated 2 player sitdown.

The one I haven't played that I think I would like is Black Widow

Never played the arcade version but can't believe no one has said Warlords cocktail yet.

I gotta go with 1. Centipede like you said, and 2. Dig Dug. Both are underrated, as stupid as it is to say the great Centipede can be underrated. Very great game. Well designed gameplay, never gets old, sounds great, excellent graphics/looks, awesome cabinet art. Fantastic game. Dig Dug is similarly good, but just not as cool as Centipede looks. Damn, just noticed hardly any love for Dig Dug so far on this thread! Pumpin' Ain't Easy!

I'm kinda surprised I Robot didn't crack many peeps top five list....

Star Wars - Well being a HUGE Star Wars fan and loving arcade machines, as a result, you get this...

Space Duel - This one of my favorite vectors of all time! I even like it better than Asteroids/Deluxe...

720 - Very unique control scheme. Dumped A LOT of quarters in this BITD....

Indiana Jones- To me, the best System 1 game! Overshadowed by all the love for Marble Madness...

APB - Love the ability to traverse anywhere in the game! Would be much higher on my list, but the lack of an ending hurts it!

Honorable mentions...
Black Widow
Major Havoc
Missile Command
Food Fight
Arabian - Yes, I'm one of the FEW people that likes this game even to this day!!!!!

Edit: Shit! I forgot Paperboy on that list!

Hard to pick one so how about ....

favorite BW X/Y : Asteroids Deluxe.
The 3d effect makes this one of the best looking games ever.

Favorite Color X/Y : Tempest
As much as I love Star Wars, Tempest has the sights and sounds and was one of the coolest games ever made.

Favorite "regular" game: Missile Command.
Considering the cold war and the "constant threat" we faced from Russia, this game was really in tune with the times when it came out. It was very unique, had great sounds and visuals and was fun even though it is a hard game to play.

No doubt in my mind...

Atari Marble Madness -- Amazing graphics, gameplay and sounds for its time. Two player simultaneous! Nothing else is quite like it.

Atari Star Wars --- Vector, excellent theme integration, fun, challenging, 3D rocked for 1983.

'nuf said.

Going with what I have that I can play repeatedly....Pole Position (in between breakdowns) and a tie between Asteroids or AD.

Now if I were at thebman80's (double and triple checked for spelling and grammar), I'd be all about Marble Madness!!

This Neck of Minnesota was pretty good for missing the boat on a lot of things. Hell, we didn't get cable TV at my mom's until 1994. I nearly missed the golden age of MTV, only really getting to see it once a week (or less) at my friend's house from 1986 on. The arcade games I played were mostly at bowling alleys and bars, and no way in hell were they springing for the latest and greatest color vector titles. The movie theatres we went to had some games (don't remember seeing a Star Wars), but I only saw them while in the ticket line. My mom wanted us to get our tickets, get our snacks and sit the hell down to wait for the movie to start.

IMHO 1981-1985 was the Golden Age of MTV.

Williams>Atari.

Paperboy, Marble Madness, 720, Championship Sprint

In that order...

+1 for 720.

Sorry Phet. I know you told me you just "couldn't get into it" when we met IN PERSON at CAX a couple years ago.

...cough...KLOVERs in the Flesh thread...cough.

SKATE OR DIE!!!

Edit: my close seconds: Star Wars, Assault, Rampart

That wasn't me. I've never seen you before in my life. Besides I've owned two 720s. Couldn't have been me.
