And another vote for Tempest. Simple, addictive, fast paced gameplay. Some of the greatest sounds ever and an awesome color vector display. The difficulty goes up and up and up....

Another vote for Tempest.
Ditto with the following:
- Star Wars - Upright is nice, and I'd love to lay my hands on a cockpit version at some point (if the wife will let it into the house). Given that I was a huge fan of the original Star Wars movie, this is slam dunk.
- Tempest - Maybe it is my heavy math background (yeah, I'm a math nerd), but something about a game that has a ton of geometric shapes in it is really fun. Simple premise, fun to play, hard to master.
This Neck of Minnesota was pretty good for missing the boat on a lot of things. Hell, we didn't get cable TV at my mom's until 1994. I nearly missed the golden age of MTV, only really getting to see it once a week (or less) at my friend's house from 1986 on. The arcade games I played were mostly at bowling alleys and bars, and no way in hell were they springing for the latest and greatest color vector titles. The movie theatres we went to had some games (don't remember seeing a Star Wars), but I only saw them while in the ticket line. My mom wanted us to get our tickets, get our snacks and sit the hell down to wait for the movie to start.
