Now that my work schedule has finally eased up as we hit Summer…taking time to rearrange the good old garcade. My old thread is buried and some of the links are broken, so will be posting new pix and descriptions. Got into the hobby around 2002 and was active until around 2013 then went on a hiatus until last year. Since then have been moving forward a little at a time to realize a personal goal of replicating the arcade experience at home. Ataricade aka nash here on KLOV - was a huge influence on my collecting, before he left the hobby.
Thank you to Mylstar, Gene Lewin (VAS), TOG and Phoenix Arcade for providing many NOS parts and repro artwork over the years.
Special gratitude and appreciation for Alpha-tron and buddies for their friendship and assistance. Major credit to them for keeping me motivated to continue working on the game room and host SoCal game nights. Finally taking time to "enjoy" this hobby of ours, which can be frustrating… yet amazing, when sharing the experience with others. Just wish my kids were more into it. They view this as dad's "old timey" hobby. Get an XBox and get with the times old man! No way!!
Wanted to change the layout to showcase (2) personal faves front and center:
- Afterburner Deluxe
- Spy Hunter sit down

Both have been painstakingly restored with numerous NOS parts, and have burn free monitors.
Afterburner Deluxe NOS parts include:
- grips, buttons, springs
- bezel
- Yoke and throttle assembly
- Plastic throttle body cover and throttle plate
- Red alert plexi
- Motor brushes and springs

Mechanical upgrades include:
- Mounted heavy duty casters to channel iron then had welded to the frame, for easy, painless maneuverability. Originally the game arrived on a pallet with a jack.
- Motors serviced by an electric shop. Have a spare set of motors, just in case.
- Skim cut the hard rubber surface from the wheels to eliminate slipping and the cabinet motion stopping during gameplay.
- Acid etched the metal surface the rubber wheels contact, then applied anti slip tape.
- Purchased new rubber wheels and had them adapted. Haven't tried them out yet as the skim cut seems to be working well for now.

Here is a new Afterburner rubber wheel that will tried in the near future. Bearings were pressed out and replaced with an machine aluminum adapter for the keyed motor shaft, press fit then tack welded.

Spyhunter NOS parts and upgrades include:
- Grips, trigger, buttons and springs
- CPO
- Shift knob
- Weapons can button and steering column
- Plastic steering wheel shroud
- Seat
- Burn free monitor
- Machined replacement bronze steering column bushing.
- Side art- Repro
Will post more pics of the garcade as things get settled in. Thanks for looking.
