Fatherpain’s - Garcade - SoCal

So the water can drain away to the left? Ah yeah, I couldn't really see that from the earlier pic. From what you're showing, it really does seem to be seeping in through those cracks and layers you've patched with the red. I will say though, water can get through places you wouldn't expect, so it can really throw some curve balls. Took me several attempts to fix an issue I had this year, from things that seemed to obviously be the source…but weren't!!

Hopefully this proves to fix it for you!! 🤞

Heh yes, water flows downhill to the left… the frustrating thing is having to open the drywall to be sure it wasn't somehow leaking from above…

On a positive note, the sealing done towards the middle of exterior seems to have resolved the water intrusion in the main part of the room :)

IMG_0478.jpegTo alleviate some of the stress of this leak…played a few games on the new addition and set the volume and dip settings…

Added 2" casters atop 2x4's to account for the Stern cabinet recessed bottom.

Game is sitting just inside the entrance. Might try moving stuff around to find a permanent spot for it, but not looking promising on that front. Will likely have to cycle in and out of the line up or roll it outside on game nights…

Waiting for delivery of a coin box and NOS (though slightly scratched) control panel. Might replace the marquee at some point as it has some light visible scratches, sigh.

Love Scramble! I have one in my restore queue!
Yes Scramble is another game I played as a kid. Really underrated gameplay and sounds…the bezel art never registered to my prepubescent gamer brain, back then 😂.

Would really like to add a Popeye someday… then the circle will be complete!

IMG_0527.jpegWoohoo! Success! My brother in law slathered more epoxy sealant on the outer floor seam and the leak stopped! It's raining hard and no more wet spots. He will apply some more when the weather passes just to be safe.

Once the drywall gets patched and painted will be back in business to host again. Looking forward to it :)

Scramble is the perfect game for a BitKit. Can play a lot of games on that cab.

Haha... my brain either. Had no idea. lol

I picked up a Popeye back in May, but it still needs to be restored. Hopefully will be able to finish that during the winter.

Was nice to have this done in time for Thanksgiving. Opened the garcade after dinner for our guests.

Moved Scramble next to Berzerk to place the Stern titles together :)

Can cram (44) titles but the (1) extra game makes everything feel off, so Defender was cycled out and moved to storage.

IMG_0662.jpegSpent a good chunk of the day after Thanksgiving cleaning up…which earned Sara's permission to host a short notice arcade party.

Was surprised to learn one visitor works at Sega…but had never heard of Afterburner Deluxe, so made sure she tried what may be the pinnacle of Sega's arcade machines. :)

My buddy @dewmanSNK tried out the "new" 44 year old game. It was his first time ever playing.

With Scramble next to Berzerk, Moon Patrol was relocated across the aisle where Defender had been.

Leaving the Williams row to just these. HUO Sinistar, which has been reliable all these years, has been intermittently locking up, requiring the game to be turned off then on again. Will have to investigate the cause.

Snapped this photo while kneeling…imagine this is what it's like for little kids when they visit, 😂

At some point, Crazy Climber will be moved so a Donkey Kong can complete this mini Nintendo row.

IMG_0667.jpeg
When that happens, Mr. Do's Castle will join Defender in storage.

(10) people made it out on short notice. The smaller group was nice as I was definitely feeling my age after all that went into hosting Thanksgiving.

There are certain games that always get played regardless of the crowd size, Spy Hunter being one of them. In addition to being front and center as one enters the garcade, I like to think the added subtle effect of the black light reactive control panel also helps draw people to it :)

Awesome buddy. Glad you had a good turn out. Sorry I couldn't make it. Got sucked into pulling down the Christmas decorations from the attic and that took longer than expected.

Just out of curiosity, did my 3D printed 20EZ neck protector bracket fit on your CC? Or is it still sitting on top of the machine? :D

It's resting underneath Afterburner…but definitely on my list of things to do. Was looking at it yesterday and admiring how intricate it was. Pretty amazing work @jawhn.

Am retiring at the end the year and coasting down, so should have plenty of time to get everything in order…Will post a picture when it's installed. :)

The small details that sometimes get noticed by visitors is interesting…

Was summoned to Tapper towards the end of the evening and asked:

"How did you get the tap handles so nice?"

To which I proudly answered: "Oh these? Ah yes, when the tap handles were changed to NOS, I noticed each had an unused threaded hole, so I installed set screws to fix the handles…Most tap handles swivel, but mine are nice and solid. See?"

The person shook their head and said: "No, not that…These tap handles are really nice, the best I've seen!"

IMG_0702.jpegThen it clicked. "Oh! You mean the white Budweiser labels on the tap handles themselves? My friend @jawhn sent me a set when I got the game. Yes they are super nice, yes!"

Though I haven't gotten around to installing the 3D printed neck protector you made for Crazy Climber, wanted to share your contributions to Time Extended haven't gone unnoticed @jawhn, so again thank you sir :)

I love the pics of your arcade that you share. You may have answered this question in the last 1000 posts of compliments. How tall are your ceilings? Looks to be 10 foot or so..... could be an illusion from taking great pics.
