Fatherpain’s - Garcade - SoCal

That's awesome.

It was something to behold when I drove up for sure. Such a cool thing to have at an arcade gathering. I'll bring my swimming shorts next if he ever shows again.

Heh, sadly Taka is returning to Japan within the next few months and will not take his Mobile Sento with him, hinting, if unable to sell, maybe I might inherit it…

While I'm kinda open to the idea, Sara said no way 😢

Tell Sara it will piss off the racist neighbors. She might acquiesce :D

IMG_9261.jpegOne of the guests that attended the Walter Day event reached out and offered this 1967 Rowe AMI-CMM1A Cadette Jukebox, free, if I picked it up.

Don't know a thing about jukeboxes and never considered having one…especially now that I'm employing Spotify and a Sonos sound system…

But this jukebox is fairly compact and is gorgeous in a Jetson's retro kind of way. Thinking it would look great in the garcade, though don't really have room for it.

It is outputting a steady static sound and the records aren't playing, though can hear it trying to do something. The person I got this from believes he has the key, so will hold off drilling the lock out for now…but am eager to open it and hopefully the fixes will be easy ones.

Really dig the look of this jukebox, so would be super cool to get it working again :)

IMG_9746.jpegOuff… while moving games around to get space to troubleshoot a Pole Position max speed issue @SlikkNikk…noticed a wet spot here on the carpet. *Doh*

IMG_9756.jpeg
First thought is maybe a copper pipe leak and was thinking to open the drywall to see…

IMG_9744.jpeg
Luckily still have this photo showing how it was before my brother in law fully enclosed it to extend the garcade. There doesn't appear to be any plumbing to create that leak…

Dried it with paper towels and rechecked this morning and it was still dry, meaning it's not an active leak.. it did rain last week, so suspect it's the original water intrusion issue…

My BIL didn't seal the entire interior of the room. Probably should have, but didn't think of it in time before the carpet went in.

IMG_9749.jpegLooking outside, suspect these broken cracks in the stucco snd cinder to be the source, Going to seal it up and hope this fixes it.

IMG_9762.jpegTroubleshooting Pole Position gave a good news / bad news result…

The good: the maximum speed of 244 mph was restored and all appears to be working, though I'm not skilled enough to reach the 4th lap, lol.

IMG_9765.jpegThe bad: the spare PCB purchased as working worked for (1) game then gave a RAM23 error…

IMG_9763.jpeg
Which subsequently became a RAM29 error…

IMG_9764.jpeg
Removed the board, then pressed all the socketed chips to ensure all were properly seated…and now it boots to this nonsense. Will reach out to the EBay seller to see if he can repair, otherwise I'll be needing a Pole Position repair guy recommendation.

All in all, the garcade is in a good spot. Yesterday, my buddy @Jamesv833 visited and restored Rampart's trackball functionality after it was disabled when Cabal was added via a Riddler TV 2 in 1 adapter.

All games are again working 100% ahead of a special visit by forum member and Overtime Arcade YouTube content creator @CharlieG while here in SoCal from Virginia…

CharlieG will officially claim furthest visitor distance traveled from Walter Day (Iowa) and @jawhn (Arizona) prior to that ;)
