I'm am so leaving work early to play this anyone else get down on some fallout? Pretty excited seeing as how fallout 2 was the one and only request for my 16th birthday ;-) and this one being made by obsidian which contains original members of the fallout 1&2 team should be as close to a an actual sequel to the old games. I'm not a hater of 3 though that was an excellent game too.

In times like these, I hate being broke.

Fallout 3 was my main video game addiction for about two months when it came up. I put a little over 90 hours in at that time. Which for me is pretty intense.

Don't tell anyone, but I never even made it out of the vault.

Oops.

I pre-ordered from Best Buy because I wanted to use some paypal funds to pay for the game and they were the only place I could find that would take paypal.
Unfortunately, I just checked the tracking and it looks like mine just left Salt Lake this morning. That means I won't get it on release day. Bummer.

I played Wasteland way back on my AppleII, which got me hooked on the post apocalyptic RPG's. I'm a huge Fallout fan.

So has anyone played much of Vegas yet? And if so, how does it compare on the scaryness factor? I found certain parts of Fallout 3 a bit freaky (I'm looking at YOU Dunwich!) and didn't like that part of the game too much. I never signed up to play Dead Space when I bought Fallout 3. The review on IGN says there are night creatures roaming the Nevada wasteland that are pretty nasty, worse than stuff in Fallout 3. True?

The abandoned vaults still have that creepy vibe and music, I'm 20 hours in and haven't even been to the strip yet. So expect some horror I don't travel at night so not sure about the night stalkers, Game is great Dead Space was awesome too although it was very hard to play through because of how unsettling it was but I like horror allot kinda like that foreboding feeling ;-)

So far the game is harder than than 3 but I like that too.

I picked this up today. I had pre-ordered it from Kmart because you got free Fallout coasters and a $15 gaming credit. When I went to Kmart the guy had no idea what I was talking about, but he eventually figured it out. So I got the game for $45 and for some reason unbeknownst to both me and the guy working there, the computer spit out another $20 gaming credit.

lulz. Stupid K-mart.

I loved Fallout 3, and looking at Vegas I cant help but think that its the same game with a new setting. I want to play it but whats different? Everything from the setting (minus the strip) to the characters look identical.

It is indeed built with the same engine and uses allot of the same assets, However the excellent quests and superior writing make it better than fallout 3 at least in my opinion. Not to mention more locations, larger variety of enemies, twice the amount of weapons, introduction of factions, and Robot sex ;-). Great game cant recommend it enough.

I still need to finish Fallout 3, and also buy more RAM for my PC. When that happens, i will get New Vegas.

I love Fallout 3. One of my favorite games of all time. It was one of those "holy shit" games, that don't come along too often. Exiting the vault for the first time is one the most memorable gaming experiences, I've had. I wish the soundtrack would have been larger though.

Anyway, I've already beat the game once, and since I've picked up the GOTY edition, I'm abut 60 hours into my second play through. New Vegas looks like it could be a great game, but it surely doesn't have the "wow factor" of the first game, right? I hear the game is quite a bit bigger? Sounds like an opportunity for more bugs...

I think I may get this in a month or two... which seems to be a good strategy with these games. They'll usually release a patch or two, that corrects the biggest flaws. I've been reading a few other threads about the game on other sites, but there isn't a lot of activity- maybe that means the game is just good- but not great.
