Last night I decided to peel away one of the fake wood side on my recently aquired Ms Pac cabinet. I have found that underneath is some pretty good looking artwork. I spent a few hours with a carpet knife and my fingers prying off most of one side. Is there an easier way to go about this than pulling off small coin sized pieces at a time? I also am wondering if there is a good way to remove the adhesive without ruining the paint.

I'd probably try my heat gun on the lowest setting, using a circular motion while applying the heat across several square inches at a time, depending on the power of the heat gun... slow and steady

goo gone gel (not goof off!) may work. just be sure to follow the directions where you spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes or it will do nothing. If the old adhesive is rock hard then I'm not sure goo gone will do anything. If it's still sticky it will probably work.

I have tried Goo Gone Gel but I didnt let it sit too long because it claims to take off paint as well. I think I will try it for a little longer and also the heat gun. Thanks for the suggestions, I hope the second side comes off easier.
