I've been really confused lately.
The original dead marquee bulb in my Ms. Pac has been replaced with a GE Cool White bulb. When I have the original marquee installed, it looks faded when lit but it doesn't appear at all when the machine is off or it isn't installed.. The repro from Phoenix doesn't doo that (maybe because the colors are just really dark). I haven't seen this anywhere else, does anyone else have this problem or have any idea why?

The original isn't bad otherwise so it's really a shame I have to install a repro for it to look decent.

I know what you mean. I would just keep the Phoenix one in the game. They are awesome. Being 30 years old and faded ...the original ones in Ms Pacs usually never look good.

The original isn't faded but looks like it when lit.

The PA marquee isn't bad, it's just not perfect.

Does the original one have a layer of smoke residue on the back of it? That could explain why it looks that way when lit as the color of the smoke is making it look washed out. I would clean it on the back you may be suprised how much dirt remains...

The back is virtually perfect except for some light flaking.
I used Goo Gone to clean it.

Your standards?
You're "restoring" a game with a Sharpie! And.....you're....ummmm....like...12 years old???

If I had a face palm pic, it would be in this post.

Since when did I say that? I was touching up black paint with a Sharpie from multiple users' suggestion (after starting to repaint with a small paintbrush and black acrylic paint) on my Ms. Pac after working for days to unfade all the pink by hand, and as expected some of the black rubbed off. I've been working on the other parts of the game like the repainting the interior black, restoring the coin door, spent like $50 to match one shade of blue, fixed the whole darn thing and maintaining it. I am very dedicated to this hobby and you can't judge me from one single post in a restoration thread. The Ms. Pac has been in restoration since day 1. Have you even read the whole thread?

I am very particular about artwork repros and rather nitpicky, Ms. Pac the most. To others, it may not matter but I am very specific about how my game looks.

One of the Ms Pacs I had or maybe it was a Pacman had a clear bulb in it like the ones used in appliances maybe that was what they put in originally and was not so vivid as the newer bulbs.
Give one a try see if it looks better.

That's what I used, the original was dead as expected. :(
What "color" did you use? Possibly Sunshine tint?
