I'm sure there is a thread like this out there somewhere, but I felt like starting one anyway. I was checking out Chris Moore's site earlier today when I stumbled upon the sweetest bootleg bezel I have ever seen.

I give you, the bootleg Ghosts N Goblins bezel:

Vs. the original:

Now I love the original as much as anybody, but that bootleg is just as cool if not cooler if you ask me. Any other bootleg artwork you like as much or better than the original factory artwork?

I always liked the Willis Centipede cpo better than the factory one. Mine actually had some other weird one on it before the Willis one was installed. Check it out:

I know you said you actually liked that orange and yellow one Phet, but it just didn't go with the other colors of the machine.....definitely was different.

I think that a lot of Willis artwork is better than the factory originals.

(Below is an Asteroids Deluxe control panel I have).

The Asteroids Deluxe does look nice, but I'm not jumping on this bandwagon. Willis Artwork looks craptasstic and that includes the Centipede CPO.

The European Centipede CPO does look a bit better then the US version as the blue is a much better match to the bezel.

I agree 100% with you Phet. Ghosts N Goblins repro stuff is some of the nicest artwork I've seen. It's one of the only games that I made a second model of just to showcase the Bootleg/ Willis artwork.

Hahahahaha, sweet. I love that CPO too. Give it up for the old 70's 7up sunrise.

Ironically, I was going to PM you about that. Do you have any photos of the panel without the wheel on it?

Whoa, what is that one? I have never seen it before.

I have a couple pictures of the pole position overlay uninstalled, if that would help.

I'm rather partial to the purple Galaga marquee willis made. I thought it matched the Gaplus better than the factory. Love the side art, but not a big fan of the rest.

Bubbles is good, too.

Anytime the main reason somebody does something is that they can make money without getting the shit sued out of them, they are kewl.

???

Willis was a legit company that licensed the rights to produce overlays. They were not bootleggers.

They didn't need much in the way of licenses. Most of the artwork they produced couldn't be tied to a particular game unless you were told what it was anyway.

Unless you looked in their catalog, the Wico catalog, or read the game name they actually printed on some of the overlays.

:)

i almost got the tempest one from quarterarcade. but it's just not cool enough imho to throw on. i really like the bubbles one.
