Wow, nice starting price on the Tempest, if I can dig up some cash I may have to bid... Good luck with your sales. I know it hurts when you have to sacrafice one hobby for another.

No kidding. We sail and camp and I am still getting GameGavel.com off the ground so lots of places for money to go. I would love to get an Assault, how do you like it? :)

You know, I honestly haven't played it very much since I got it, but that's probably due to the fact that we bought a new house and it now seems like there is a never ending "honeydew" list, lol. I really like the cab and the controls, very unique. I've enjoyed it though. Once I get my gameroom done I'm sure it will get played more - unless you want to work out a trade for your Tempest... ;)

Ya, I would like an Assault. But, someone is coming by to check out the Tempest tomorrow. I will keep you updated :)

So are these offered for sale locally as well?
I see the Tempest auction ended so I am guessing yes?

Chris

Actually, the Tempest ended up getting carried back over to the "keeping" side of the list for now. We sold off a Tempest Mini a couple years ago and my wife never let me hear the end of it. So we decided to sit on this one for a while longer and see if we can get enough cash coming in from the others before letting this one go. You know how this hobby is :)

Stunt Cycle and Stars Pin are gone. Decided to keep the MultiWilliams due to no interest and also decided to keep Tempest.

Taxi Pinball is still available for $1000 obo. It is very nice, Marilyn edition.

Astro Blaster - $150 firm

I had a deal fall through on the Max A Flex though so back on the market for $1200 if anyone is interested.

or take all (3) for $2000.

I'm sorry, but this is absurd. You claim these are for auction and then you pull them and now you are asking fixed amounts which are above what they were available for previously if someone had just bought them through your auction? Aren't you the guy who owns a video game auction site? Don't you think it would show your own faith in your site if you actually let people bid to determine what stuff is worth? Or, do you not have any faith in your own site? I really have a problem with the fact that you paid $500 or less for the Max A Flex a few months ago, resold it for $750 a couple weeks ago and now that the deal fell through, you want $450 more. It's a free market, but that strikes me as price gouging and another sign that people should steer clear of your auction site.

How does what he paid for the game have any bearing on what he is selling it for? The deal at $750 fell through, does that mean he can not try and sell it for a higher price?

Far from price gouging. And as you stated, "it's a free market" which means it's his game and can charge what he likes.

First off the deal that fell through on the Max was $1200, which was an offer that I accepted through GameGavel while the starting bid was $750. Oh, and the Taxi I paid $2000 for four years ago I have up for $1000. And dude, if you kept up on me you would see that I have been giving away arcade games the past year for exceptionally good deals. If I want to try and make money on one machine who cares? I can't count the times I have sold to others here for a steal only to see the games up for sale for 3 or 4 times my selling price. It happens and any one with half a brain can understand that. Once it leaves the previous sellers hands the marriage is over if you get my drift.

Regarding the auction site, give me a break. You have done nothing but bitch about it since the day it launched. At least I am doing something positive for the hobby besides berating everyone and everybody at one time or another on every forum in existence. My dedication to the hobby should never be in question but your dedication can only be taken with a grain of salt, if even that.

My Contribution:
GameGavel.com (now over 4500 members, $200,000+ in sales btw)
RetroArcadeRadio.com
RetroGamingRoundup.com

All of which are being done for the love and good of the hobby.

Once you have done an ounce of what I have done for the hobby then let's talk. Put your money where your mouth is :)

That's exactly what I am asking you to do, put your money where your mouth is. If your auction site really is as good as Ebay, then you should have no problem listing your games for a low starting bid, perhaps with a small reserve and taking whatever the market decides they are worth. You can't have it both ways. You can't argue constantly that Gamegavel is a viable Ebay alternative and then not even use it for your own big ticket item sales.

As for my contribution to the hobby, I have given away literally thousands of dollars in free games including arcade games to newer collectors over the years and I have never listed anything for sale on Ebay or any auction site. Every item I have ever sold has been on a collector's forum and to the best of my knowledge, I have never made a dime on anything I have sold because my belief is that collecting is about community, not making a profit for something I have held on to for a few months or even years. If you had done some restoration work or otherwise expended significant amounts of money on the Max A Flex, that might be a different story, but the guy who sold it a few months ago did so at well below value because he wanted it to go to someone who really wanted it, not so you could flip it for $700 profit.

F'it, not even worth a response.

FWIW, I was similarly cheesed when the auctions were pulled without notice. When I first saw your post with the Stunt Cycle listed I thought: "Cool, a Stunt Cycle in good shape, kinda close, and it might fly under the radar a bit. Maybe I will give GG a chance after all." I watched the auction pretty close for several days, poised to strike with my usual wait until the last minute to bid maneuver.... until it was ended without warning or any word of explanation from you on this thread. I have to admit that I was also confused and a little put off by this.

Now I know you don't owe anyone an explanation for anything... and I have been on the positive side of a pulled auction many times... I just figure you must have a significant investment into the site and want to grow its reputation any way possible. And at the same time this sort of behavior does tend to send mixed messages, you know?

Not trying to slag you. Just something to think about. Good luck with your sales.

Ya, sorry about that. But, there was really no reason for you to wait to place the first bid since there was a min starting bid on it anyway? So if you would have just taken the first bid, I wouldn't have ended it and it would have had to play out. It did sit on the GG a few days with no bids? Then the thread dropped like a rock here in KLOV with no replies so figured there was no interest in it. I may have just taken it off and decided not to sell it at that time, can't remember, but then an offer came in from a local so I took it.

Max-A-Flex is sold.

Taxi is sold for $700 btw :) Pretty good deal for endofline.
