Hi,
I'm helping a friend to repair his F14 pin. One of his displays is out, and he'd prefer to just drop in a whole new display board rather than trying to troubleshoot his existing display.

I know they make two different display boards for this game. The earlier/prototype board that had holes in it for light bulbs, and a later display board that did not have holes in it for light bulbs.

I'm pretty sure this board is the later design, but am confused since the board has 4 holes in it.

Can someone please confirm which board this is?

The earlier style display had four lamps that mounted to that display board. Unless you removed lamps from the holes in your display, you have the later style.

The later style is more common and is cheaper to replace with LED displays.

You're correct; that's the later version. Those holes are for where the display glass nipples would poke through if you had glass installed that had nipples on it.

Awesome. Thanks all for the confirmation on the board type and the quick response!

For a drop-in replacement board, is something like this from Rottendog Amusements my best bet? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Pinball...779?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2578c7d3e3

Or am I better off with this replacement from Pinscore? http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/PS-11610

My brother was happy with the Rottendog Display for his F-14. Instead of going through ebay, you should it buy it directly from Mad Amusements:

Shipping won't cost you $25, so you will be saving a few bucks. It will most likely come in a medium flat rate box. Mike does charge higher shipping upfront but he always refunds you the difference.

Edit: Also, the $50 more for the pinscore will get you 3 more years of warranty and an adjustable brightness control.

I've got the PinScore ones myself in my F-14 and Whirlwind - the adjustable brightness and solid warranty sold me - no issues so far!
