Hey fellas.. HALLLLLLPPPP!!!!

ON my frickin tron, well, where to begin..

Its had the whole base of the cabinet rebuilt, original ps rebuilt. new ac cord fuse holder and big blues. worked for awhile.... That krapped. Installed arcadeshop switcher and adapter. worked for awhile then krapped. Replaced interconnect cables with some of bobs.. that workes for awhuile then krapped. However if the cables were pulled and reinstalled, it would work correctly again. Not wanting to mess with success i just put up with reseating the cables every couple of months..

machine has been working fine untill recently then started giving me issues.. Mostly missing caracters..
( time to reseat the cables again i thought..)

I decided i was sick of messing with this all the time and did a stupid thing. I decided to reflow ALL the header pins.

reassemble, alternating color screens. WTF...Found some mcr cables not in the correct orientation.. check all with meter, recheck..

Now the game is back to playing but in attract mode the colored moving parts of the mcp are way low on the screen. If you coin up and play, say in tank mode, the tanks are all over going through walls and the turret is no longer on the tank, if that makes sense.

Even in test mode, the selection dot is not in the correct place. I get to self diagnostics and it goes through checking each color then a screen comes up that says press trigger to exit.. so nothing really found diring selftest..

wtf did i do?

I dunno.

Hell, my buddy in New Braunfels brought over an untested TRON boardset he picked up for me test. Had new ribbon cables from BobRob so I put those on. Powered it up and smoked one of the ribbon cables.

So - it could be worse...

oh yeah i remember that man!

Yeah i dont know what im gonna do. THis is supposed to go on location for a little while starting next month but at this rate i just dont see it happening.

all fixed ( for now lol)

After metering each mcr connection pin twice, i found the culprit. One of the male pins ont he center board go tbent back slightly, just enough where it was not making connection. Grebbed it with the hemostats and pulled it in place with the others. Reconnect, recheck- OK!

Whew man... i was so dreading doing this job i think i junxed myself lol.. played a few games all ok for now at least lol.. The only bonus is this gave me a chance to readjust my monitor... gonna need caps soon, ive got the focus pot almost cranked fully...( 4900 wells)
