F**K!!! Mexican customs drilled into my MVS cart and ruined it!!

Do not use a hammer drill for locks. It is for drilling concrete. Just use a drill and make sure you have a good sharp bit. Don't buy the black drill bit they are not very good.

Glade to hear everything worked out for you.

Really? Too overkill? Fair enough. Thanks, all is good

it looks like a bootleg cart to so big loss ;) [try ebay not has describe = full refund]

but like yagg said said you could run wires to the broken traces.

when i see games from Spain and Mexico on ebay i dont feel comfortable buying them. [try to keep it in US/CANADA]

Just pay attention to feedback and you'll be fine. There are a ton of good sellers both in Spain and Mexico.

Ya, not a big deal. I only try to avoid buying from non-USA/Canada because of less potential delay and problems, which occurred with this delivery. I have bought from all over the world and never had an issue. Bad luck that day

What can you ship in that small a space anyway? 3 bucks of meth?

I actually sent the pic of the drilled cart to a cop friend of mine, and he told me that the amount of coke that would fit in that cart (without the pcbs inside) would have an approximate street value of $4000-$5000 (Canadian dollars). He also believes that Mexican customs drilled for narcotics

are you going to try and blue wire mod fix this thing? if you do provide pics and status if your repair worked. please

I am, yes. It will be the first time I have tried something like this. I will take pictures and probably make a Top Tier Tech video on it. Other arcade collector friends told me it should only take 20 minutes...soooo, it should take me 4 hours

That looks like the most ridiculous and incompetent way to check for drugs I have ever seen, all they would have needed is a freaking screwdriver.....

Goes to show you that it's the same all over, every government has some morons working for them and your package just happened to get unlucky enough to meet one.

It does look as if it should be repairable at least. That MVS scans page may help to figure out how the damaged traced once connected.

Very true. I could of happened anywhere. I have been researching and studying the leads on the pcb. Seems to be 5 of them. Seems easy, but I always say that, then I cry

If you are real desperate to get it fixed and doubt your skills I could take a look at it for you, I have done lots of repairs like this.
The only thing to consider with my offer is that it means another couple of trips across a border..... I'm sure you just looooove that idea :D

LOL! I thank you for your consideration. Lemme take a shot at it. I have to get my feet wet to learn. At least it won't be on expensive cart. There are other local collectors that have lend their services as well. I will update you/everyone on the process. Here goes nothing...

I'm not very knowledgeable here but I have a World Heroes 2 cart (both boards) that has no case, but does work. Not sure if you can swap roms on these or not. But let me know if it would help.

if it were me doing this repair I'd use 30ga wire, and low heat. to make it a little easier you could solder one end of a few of the traces to the chip itself instead of the trace.

once you've confirmed that it works tack the wires down with hot-glue to keep everything secure.

Hey man, thank's for the consideration. I'm not too sure either. I will try to fix the cart first and if need be, contact you if the carts are interchangeable.

Thanks again,
Steve

That's my exact game plan! Thanks and I will let you all know if this ends up working :)

Why would you buy a FATAL FURY MVS cart from MEXICO?

Aren't those pretty easy to find State side?

So I just received my last mvs cart to complete my 6 slot neo geo restore, and after being held at customs for 2 days, I open the cart to discover that Mexican customs drilled 2 holes into the MVS cart and into the pcd/leads and ruied the f**king thing! NOOOO! I e-mailed the guy on e-bay I bought it from and waiting for a reply. Here are some pics...Anyone ever deal with a similar situation? Any thoughts on what to do if e-bayer doesn't respond?
