F**K!!! Mexican customs drilled into my MVS cart and ruined it!!

So I just received my last mvs cart to complete my 6 slot neo geo restore, and after being held at customs for 2 days, I open the cart to discover that Mexican customs drilled 2 holes into the MVS cart and into the pcd/leads and ruied the f**king thing! NOOOO! I e-mailed the guy on e-bay I bought it from and waiting for a reply. Here are some pics...Anyone ever deal with a similar situation? Any thoughts on what to do if e-bayer doesn't respond?

I've bought literally dozens of games from Mexico. Never had this happen. My Demon Front kit sat there for 3 weeks and it's pristine.

If he doesn't reply, just open a case through eBay. They'll take care of you.

Thanks for the advise man, will do. The crazy part is the ad said it was coming from Saint Paul, Arkansas, United States. I have watched "Boarder Security" shows and they actual unscrew and open it, not just drill shit instead..

My first time thought is that it's not the sellers fault, but if the seller deliberately lied on where it was shipping from, then it should be his responsibility.

You could do 4-5 jumper wires around the damage spot and be up and running tonight.
The drill mark on the left probably isn't an issue at all.
Sometimes this is easier than trying to get a refund (and be responsible for
return shipping costs, as the case may be).

Hmm, great idea! I will wait until the seller gets back to me in case he wants the original one back or whatever. You're right. The one on the left is fine, if only the one on the right was 1cm to the left and I wouldn't care, as long as it worked..

So much for using MVS carts as a way to smuggle drugs over the Mexican border...

I'd go with Yaggy's suggestion for sure..... thankfully none of the chips were hit.

The only difficulty would be if this was a multilayer board, and traces from a deeper layer were hit. Not that that could not be worked around, but it would be much much harder and require a schematic, or a good board, a DVM, and lots and lots of time (and luck).

The other option as well, if the PCBs were standard in those carts.... if you can find a cheap duplicate... you could move the chips over.... but I'd try repairing those traces and see what you have.

Good luck.

Very true and thanks for your opinion on this

I wonder if they had as hard a time drilling into that case as you did with your coin door lock. :)

LMAO! Well played, sir! I have to laugh at that. Side note, a friend of mine has given me access to a "hammer drill" what ever the hell that is and said to use that with lube and there will be no more problems..For now, I have no more coin doors to drill out..

this doesn't even make sense. even the location of the 2 drill holes, what was the purpose if they could have opened the package up normally? don't they use x-ray? also, what's the purpose of damaging goods at customs? makes absolutely zero sense to me.

also.. why would the seller be responsible for actions beyond his/her control?

I agree with you about customs, they could have just unscrewed the thing and saw inside. I honestly don't think the seller is responsible as well, but the problem is the seller clearly says that he sells out of the USA from Saint Paul, Arkansas, United States, but he actually is from Mexico, which is wrong. I often never buy anything outside of Canada or USA because of arbitrary custom laws (not to say ours are better per say)
