Here's what I got: Ninja Assault full size with 2 happ optic guns.
Here's the problem: shit doesn't work

No seriously, one gun only registers a shot at the top right of the screen no matter where i aim it (behind me, at the floor, with my hand over it) and the other gun doesn't do anything on the screen. I tried replacing the optic boards inside of the guns but still nothing. Now these two guns are wired to a JYU-PCB that's made by Namco. It seems to be a gun input and then connects to the main board via USB. Could this JYU-PCB be the bad component?
The color on my screen doesn't look to bad so I'm guessing it's not really a brightness issue? Has anyone ever encountered this before? Any help would be great. I'm really running out of options here.

2 things that might help. Turn the brightness up a bit and see what happens.
and make sure the monitor is super clean. I had similar problem with my operation wolf.

I've tried messing with the brightness and contrast but, maybe I need to read up on full color adjustment and monitor tuning. It would be nice if this was the only problem.

there's a few areas to check. I think you've ruled out the optic boards themselves. you don't have to necessarily go crazy with monitor tuning, it doesn't even have to be super bright.

one area that's oft-neglected is the +5V at the game's power supply.

on our Carnevil, the thing that drove me completely nuts was that the guns never fired accurately. they worked, and the monitor was actually kind of bright (meaning the brightness was too high) but they were very erratic. I never stopped to check the power supply on it either. turned out the +5 was at around 4.96V, or maybe it was even less. that means it was never adjusted probably since the game was assembled.

once I stepped it up to about 5.15, the game played amazingly. once I recapped and adjusted a lot of shit on the monitor as well, it performed even better.

I say get your meter out and check the power supply, if it's a screw terminal, obviously check at the +5 and GND terminals, and if it's a molex type, check at the red wire (+5) and black wire (GND) ... and if you already knew these, excellent, I'm not trying to insult your intelligence. :)

if that doesn't get it, I say your next stop should be the test mode, I know Sega gun games have a "default gun adjustment", I generally just use it, no need to get crazy with manual adjustments. you'll at least get SOMETHING with that. then if there's a gun mark check, see if you get anything on-screen.

another important question however, is does the trigger actually work? if you don't get a trigger at all (like a reload click, since the optic's not seeing the screen) then you're potentially looking at a wiring problem. I don't know this game at all, with the USB adapter board thing, so my guess is as good as anyone's.

good luck. and clean the monitor and the glass with windex.... it'll make it look prettier at least.

I'm going to do some more testing this weekend. I know that I have tested the +5v power before but, I don't remember what it was off hand. I'm thinking of checking continuity on each wire as well. Considering there are quick disconnects in 2 different spots before it gets to the PCB I may have a loose connection somewhere. I don't know.
I've cleaned the glass and monitor both really well. I've also cleaned the guns and verified that the triggers are working. I get a trigger input on each gun because I get a screen flash and a noise but don't actually see a "blast" on the screen. I'll video some footage this weekend and post it up. Thanks for the help.
