Went and looked at a converted Simpsons cab that had the CPS2 game Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara inside.
The CPS2 had suicided, but I could turn the brightness up and get raster.
So - I Phoenixed the D&D, then recapped the chassis.
Put it all back together. I have gameplay sounds, but I'm getting no image on the screen. However, I can still turn up the brightness and get raster.
So - either the board isn't putting out video, or the monitor has some other issue.
I let the game/monitor run for a bit while I was doing some research. When I went back to check some connections, a spark popped back near the yoke connector and smoke started coming up. I shut it off, pulled the chassis, and it appears the smoke was from a solder pad of a diode overheating next to the yoke connector. BUT - the diode is still good. It goes to a cap on one side, then the flyback. Cap didn't pop. Not sure what's going on with this.
Anyway, the yoke is showing the following readings:
H: 3.6-ohms
V: 6.8-ohms
So - I was thinking of digging up a 25K7000 chassis and throwing it on there instead, or replacing it with an entire working 25" standard-res I have in storage.
Just thought I'd mention it here in case anyone knows any common issues with this model...
