Extreme Noobness

just throwing in my two cents from one masochist to another potential masochist - if you are wanting to buy another game pcb, and if you have the room for another cab, buy a dedicated cab with the pcb etc that u want cause its cheaper in the long run to get one complete to start with - and heaps more fun! strip it down, clean it, touch up the paintwork, clean all the harness conectors and pcb connectors, get the manuals and just plain ol poke around inside (with the power turned off) and put it back togeter - do it heaps of times until you know it inside out - you'll learn heaps just doing that!

Is it a frogger-specific leaf switch? Can I have a microswitch installed where just that one leaf is missing? or do I have to convert the entire CP to micro?

naw, just replace the one if you want. I like microswitch Happ competition buttons myself, but some people prefer the leaf style. The micros make a much more definite "click"/ ""on" sound and feel, while the leaf style is a bit softer on the sensation. IMO

Either way, no you don't have to convert the panel to one or the other. There is only two wires to each button.

Matching up colors? That's the big gamble. That's the reason to completely buy an entire panel's worth of matching buttons.

Good news: The frogger came with the extra leaf switch, it's just missing the small L bracket to fasten it to the joystick. (frogger is no fun without up!) Any idea where I can grab the small L bracket? (Home Depot's smallest was too big). Also, I took the Punch-Out!! coin mech apart and successfully bent that twine trip wire on the switch. Now when the quarter pushes it down, it pops back up as should and awards the credit. Now all I need to do is find the missing metal guide which will probably be near impossible.

Oh, I guess I didn't read that the missing leaf switch is for the joystick. Yeah, that's important to keep those all leaf switches. There's bound to be someone here with the bracket and your other needs. Try listing a want list in the Games/ parts wanted forum on this site.

Will do, thanks gozer. I need to get my digital camera up and running. I have a non-original coin door on my frogger, and it is fairly larger than the original coin door, so I'm stuck with it.
