A list of machines which were known to have existed but, after years of KLOV and other collector's circles, no working examples have been found. Would this be a fun list to come up with? Add some.

One game I can think of which might qualify is Bouncer.

Polybius?
Seriously though, one I'm not sure existed, so it may not actually count, is Crazy Junior (Donkey Kong Jr bootleg). I know there were Crazy Junior machines, but all the ones that have recently turned up didn't actually have the game "Crazy Junior" on the title screen, so I'm not sure if one actually existed or not. They've all either had Donkey King Jr, Junior King, or some variant of Donkey Kong Jr (either US or Japanese romset)

I've heard rumors of games like Galaxian built for use on airliners. But haven't ever seen examples of one of those machines.

Oh there's soooo many, I'll copy, paste and add to my list from the original thread:

Bouncer - the holiest of lost game holy grails

Fire & Forget II - Titus Software, cab on flyer looks suspiciously like a modifed After Burner cab

NY Warriors , Aaargh! and Rockford - Arcadia games ported to various home computer platforms, nobody is quite sure if they were ported to the Arcadia Super-System arcade boardset like other games.

Angler Dangler - Data East / a MAME dumper may have finally found a copy of the DECO tape, featured on Star Cade and ported to the TI 99/4a home computer.

Missile Command II - Simutanious two-player version, not the classics multi-PCB version. One working boardset happily in the hands of a KLOVer! :D

Black Widow - early Taito raster version, supposedly a complete boardset is in the hands of a KLOVer's friend. Uses the same boardset as Qix

Surfer - Only a vague flyer shows any proof of its existance

Atomic Castle - lost laser disc game, supposedly only one ever made. I remember an article showing pictures of it in a game magazine and it looked pretty cool.

Vertigo - Vector predecessor to Tunnel Hunt. Supposedly a complete example still exists in the hands of an Exidy programmer

Ms. Gorf - Programmed but never committed to hardware, supposedly still exists as uncompiled prototype software on 8" floppies

Journey - Stern version, not the Midway game. Was shown in the background on Star Cade.

Break Away - Venture Line Breakout rip off

Crazy Otto - Ms. Pacman proto, ROMs supposed still exists in the hands of its programmer whom is reluctant to release it due to copyright issues

Battle Star - lost Sega vector

Cutey Fatty - Funny and fun looking Korean game about fighting obesity

The Last Star Fighter - supposedly made it partially through the prototype stage, there's a Youtube video supposedly showing what exists of it.

Zool - Predecessor to Sonic the Hedge Hog, pictures of the cab and PCB exist, was ported to at least the PC

Kreepy Krawlers - according to the Exidy programmer it was completed but never released, no one knows if the ROMs survived.

Ms. Pacman Twin - Simutanious two-player MP knock-off. Supposedly one working example has been found in the wild and partially ROM dumped.

Hovercraft - Lost vector game that might not have made it out of proto

Pirate Pete

I'm pretty sure I saw one on Ebay within the past year and a PCB on KLOV more recently, the prototype Jungle Boy might qualify better.

Has anyone ever seen a Stern Journey? It was the prize on a couple episodes of Starcade (don't know if anyone actually won one or not)

Are you sure? Was it the whole game or a *modified* board?

The reason I asked I have Pirate Pete in my saved search queue - no hits...
The only one I'm aware was the one sold in the early 2,000's.

So PP is a bad example cause there still might be one floating around out there.

I'll add Taito Water Ski to the discussion.... also add QB3

Oohhh....Thought of a good one: Toasters and Chainsaws!!

Well it's certainly rare, that's for sure, and it seems to me that there was a marquee and artwork released for it so it was a little more than just a ROM hack.

Yeah Water Ski is damn cool, fortunately at least the ROMs have been dumped.

This is the reason why MAME is so important.

+1000000! Amen to that!

Very similar, but not quite. I'm looking for complete machines we know existed, and now don't. Hence, extinct.

Prototype ROMs, data on disks, etc, not so much.

I can think of a few where there are maybe one or two known compies like:

Primal Rage II
Beavis and Butthead
Polybius :p

Pirate Pete

Working board sets exist and I know of a Pirate Pete in the far northeast corner of the U.S. (won't say where to protect owner's privacy). I do not know, however, if he has the entire original cabinet with artwork.

Is Frisky Tom extinct? Played that one as a kid. It was the first and last time I ever saw that game. To my knowledge not even Funspot/ACAM has one.

Predators

Williams' networked (four cabinets!), vector space fighting game. It was play tested, marquees and control panel overlays exist, but only vague descriptions of the gameplay exist.

This is a perfect example.

They know where at least two (I think) of the cabinets are, but they were converted years ago.

I swear I saw one of these BITD at the Alladin's Castle in Davenport IA. I remember seeing the name, wanting to play "Journey," but realizing it was a completely different "Journey" game.

Mind you, it might not have been Stern. But it was a game called Journey.
