Just brought home a DK Jr. cocktail.
But the previous owner had informed me that there was a magic smoke release...
I did not try to power it.

I pulled the monitor and initially thought "rats nest",
But the mess appears to be entirely 1 capacitor (C472, 100uf, 160v)

WOOPS, CAP 472, not 466!!!

Any ideas on why this may have happened?
I am getting a (20EZ) cap kit which includes C466, so it will be replaced.
I just hate to have a repeat if the cause isn't fixed.

I just went through HELL working on a dead z2ab. I replaced pretty much everything on the chassis but well worth it.

Good luck with your repair!

Had some time last night to take a closer look.
I just didn't see ANY other damage, all fuses were good, so I decided to just replace C472.
(I originally thought it was C466, but that was a disk cap)
After removing the old cap, it looks like it had drained, likely bone dry and exploded.
JBK had mentioned these had been in storage around ~20yrs.

I set the monitor back into the cab and with a great deal of apprehension and a bit of distance, I plugged it in.
Some life, a hint of a picture! and a working PCB... this is awesome.
Played a quick game with the lights off.

I have to finish a full cap job and make adjustments, hopefully it will be looking good afterwards.

Off-Topic, I love finding quarters lost in machines from the golden age of arcade's!!

Well, after capping, C472 was a victim of age only..... half the remaining caps were leaking or bulged. All done, thanks guys!
