OK... it was with pleasant surprise that I discovered that my keypad on my Cruis'n Exotica DOES work... but you have to push each button VERY VERY hard to get them to register.

Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these keypads? Is it possible?

A few of the buttons on my Rush 2049 are like this as well, they were working fine and then just tweaked. I'm wondering it its from sitting because the game wasn't played for a while. I was going to pull mine apart and see if I can clean it or anything.

Take it apart and clean it up. Also rub the traces under the buttons with an eraser to clean them up. The buttons just push a conductive pad onto the traces completing the circuit. Same as keyfobs, remotes, calculators, etc... there are lots of ideas out there on the web about ways to fix this. There are Keypad membrane repair kits, you could even try cleaning the pads and then dabbing a little conductive paint on them.

hope this helps...
cheers

Yeah, my 2049 keypads were like that... like Tim said, pull them apart and clean them. IIRC I used alcohol, but you can probably use just about anything that'll clean up the mating surfaces.
