does any one have a copy / pdf of the exidy destruction derby schematics / operators manual? this is not the same as chicago coins pcb nor is it the same as exidy's death race (although its pretty close to DR)

am having trouble determining the correct files for replacing eproms at locations 10V & 10W and i think it may shed light on this ... or not

thanks, kenny

I have the service manual, but no schematic. I'll see if I can at least get the manual scanned, though I'm not sure my scanning setup works.

Just so your expectations are calibrated, the service manual has nothing PCB level, not even a parts list or layout. Just a drawing about which pots adjust what volumes.

Like you said, that board looks very similar to Death Race. 10W is likely a 74192 (not an EPROM), and 10V is probably an 82S129 (bipolar PROM). It doesn't look like MAME has any dumps for Destruction Derby, though it does have dumps for Death Race... if you're lucky, maybe that PROM is the same across both games.

Or, 10V should have similar functionality to 10J, so you could try dumping and burning a copy of that PROM and try it at 10V (10J and 10V PROMs are identical on Death Race).

And to confirm 10W is a 74192, it looks like it should be the same as 10K... so you could check that on your DD board.

DogP i believe you are correct and W10 is a 74192 - at least on the DR schematics it works out - its ceramic package was throwing me off track (the other 74192 are plastic)

thanks for that one

now to see if i can somehow match the prom locations from my exidy DD board to the chicago coin locations of DD

got it, replacement is location H6/B2 of the TTL dump for destruction derby

and if these were all socketed, a swap to a death race would be 8 chips and addition of a scream pcb.
