I'm just wondering if it would be possible to design and print a rifle butt pad for the Exidy shooter games. Currently, all the metal gun stocks I own just have a weird opening on the end of a hollow butt. The metal curves around the edges of the opening as well, so there might be a way to design something that has flexible flanges that could utilize that fact to hold the pad in place. Just wondering if this is something that's possible as I don't have a 3-D printer.

All the metal rifle stocks for the Exidy gun games are exactly the same. But I can try to take a picture tonight when I get home.
As someone who doesn't own an Exidy gun game, this doesn't mean anything to me. Probably won't mean anything to anyone else who doesn't have an Exidy gun game either. These people (myself included) may have 3D printers. Hard to answer if something can be made up without knowing what it looks like!

And this gives you an idea of the layered flange system I'm talking about to hold the pad in place at the end of the gun:

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem for something 3d printed. It can even be something rubbery if you like. If you post the a photo and annotate it with some dimensions e.g. inner and outer widths and lengths, depth of the hole, the contours of the hole (its it straight down, or does it flare out?). I'm sure someone can whip up something.

Sweet. Rubbery would be perfect. Yeah I'll get some detailed pics and measurements and a close approximation of curve radiuses. It's concave at the end.

There are hundreds of rifle recoil pads.... Why not find one of those you like? They make some that slip right on. It will look way better than anything 3D printed (and cost less).
This. Take a piece of paper and make a tracing of the opening. Go to a shop with gun parts. They'll have something than either fits or could be adapted.

This one worked well for the crossbow I worked on. size: small

So that's a rubber sleeve that slips over the stock? Makes it look super long. I was hoping for something that would somehow insert into that hole and only stick out an inch or two. I was also hoping for more than one color. And trust me, I have looked online for recoil pads, but obviously they're made for real rifles and not an Exidy gun with this hole in the end.

Like how would you attach this to the gun? Glue? Yuk.

This lace up one looks kind of cool, but it's 35 bucks (though it does have bullet holders so it might be worth it):

I think this one might be an option as long as it fits (I think I'd like the brown one better on my painted brown Exidy rifle):

Yes, slips on the end and the actual butt part, where the texture changes, is up against the back of the metal stock. It's similar to some of those others you pictured, just not in brown.

Ask where he got his. Looks great.

So I read some reviews on this one, sounds like the rubber is kind of loose fitting. I really want something that feels permanent not something can slip on and off at will. I still think a 3-D printed piece form fitted to this gun stock would be best.

3M glue and problem solved.

And it will look better than anything you can print in 3D.
