I am pretty new to this site and an EXTREMELY happy to finally be able to share something that I think is cool and hopefully will be helpful to so many of you awesome people who have been so willing to offer your expertise.

I got onto this site with no experience and from reading the forums and getting some expert answers, I did my first cap job last night and am bringing a dead G07 back to life.

While doing this cap job, I also changed the flyback and had A TON of trouble getting the pins to line up with the board correctly. So after messing with this, I used some of the expertise I learned here and pushed old one into a piece of cardboard to get a template. I then took that cardboard template and made a 3D printable model of it and am happy to share that with everyone here.

I hope that someone else finds this helpful. I found that both of the china A29951B flybacks that I got both needed A LOT of adjustment of the pins to get them to line up so the 14 min it took to print was worth it to avoid more frustration I could deal with doing it blind or even with the side panel taken off.

Worth noting, one of the flybacks, right out of the box wasnt epoxied and the pins were falling out. If anyone knows of a solid source for this flyback, please let me know. These Chinese ones are crappppppp.

I have attached the .SKP file for people so you can make adjustments if needed, the GCODE I used with PLA and the .STL file to pull into your slicer for 3D printing if you want to change the settings.

I am VERY excited to actually be able to contribute to this awesome forum. Please let me know if this was helpful for you.

I also have a link to Thingiverse for just the STL if you want that only:

if searched this was dealt with many years ago on here by me and Ian when 3d printers weren't so prevalent so if someone doesn't have a printer you can either use an old pcb or cardboard to poke holes through it from a flyback removed (i prefer the pcb but trash ones are hard to come by) and then take either to a drill press and you can use acrylic, plastics, wood, metal or whatever that will hold up to the use the individual plans to use it and drill through the pcb or cardboard holes into the material and you have the same thing. it never really took that well back then because if you have installed enough of these flybacks you know they consistently need only a couple specific pins bent 98% of the time and the rest were fine.

I wish that was the case for me.

I just ordered a flyback from you about 10 minutes ago because I ordered two from someone else, well known, and the amount I had to bend the pins was INCREDIBLE with one of them ending up not even solder-able as the one pin was out almost 1/8 of an inch coming up from the epoxy so once I got it to line up with the hole it didnt have enough length left to pop out of the back of the board.

I wish I would have known to come to you in the first place. I am new to this and with initial review, I saw another vendor as the oldschool go-to supplier but am not impressed with quality of parts so far.

You'll be seeing more of me soon. I am really enjoying this new hobby and feel like I'll be doing more repairs, rebuilds and new builds this winter to stay busy. I see that my order I placed a couple hours ago has already shipped. That's the kind of business I want to work with. Thanks again.

Yes we always ship same day M-F.

Cool.

I am now at the point where I can bend the pins by site and it drops right in. (Takes a couple hundred to get to this point)

So I got flyback from you today. Pins were solid and took seconds with my fancy 3dprinted jig to align, WAY, WAAAAAAAY different (better x10) quality than the two from the other well-known oldschool provider listed here. Dropped it in, soldered, crossed my fingers, installed and powered on and everything is awesome. Yes the neighborhood had a small brown out and all the clocks in my house froze, but I think that is normal ?

Not bad for my first cap+horizontal+flyback replacement. This is going to be a problem now, as I am addicted to finding old arcade stuff and fixing it. You people are all pushers and should feel guilty about getting people addicted. Thanks for your help! See you in arcade-repair rehab thread soon.
