I just got my Airwolf game working again. The board was bad so lucky I found a working replacement board at a fair price,Thanks to mrbill2084. So after installing the board I noticed a couple of the buttons on the control panel were not working right. The game hasn't been working for a wile and I have never had the control panel off so I figured it was time to clean the contacts. When I flipped the panel over and looked at the buttons I said to myself WTH. I have seen all types of buttons on many different games but this was a first. I have never seen this type of button. Not a leaf switch, not a micro switch so what is it? I guess it's similar to a Sanwa button but still much different. Anyone ever seen one and know who made them?
After looking them over I figured the bottom must pop or twist off so I grabbed one terminal with a pair of pliers and pulled and it popped off. You can see in the pictures below it has a washer with a spring on each side and pressing the button pushes the washer down and makes contact to the terminals on the bottom. I cleaned the washer with a fine emery nail file and popped them back together and they are good as new. They seem to work well when they are clean.Just goes to show you never know when you will see something you have never seen before. Guess that's why we love this hobby.

The buttons were made by Happ Controls AND SUCK REALLY HARD. Replace them ASAP and never look back.

Had them on a Ghosts n Goblins I picked up about a year and a half ago. The game was clean and in good shape, but had those style buttons. All of them except one was bad when I started testing things.

Like other folks are saying, replace them now. That will save you the effort of having to test and replace them later down the road.

They're cheap, fail quickly and must be completely replaced.
First thing I do if I get a game in that has them is throw 'em
in the trash and put regular direct-push micros in.

I had a few thrown in as extras with my first game (Final Fight). They didn't work very well and I tossed them without thinking twice.

I don't know about those buttons but are you leaving that Tapper cab as an Airwolf?

Well I have gave it some thought, even back when I first got the game as stated on my web page.

It still has the power block in the bottom of the cabinet and the original side art is still under that fine black paint job someone put on it. The monitor has some Airwolf screen burn so for now I will leave it as an Airwolf but never say never.
I cleaned all 4 buttons and they seem to work for now but next time they give me trouble I'll just replace them.
Thanks for the info.
