I just wrote up this short piece on a place in Phoenix called Cade Gallery. Its an art gallery that has exhibits on local and national artists, but it also has a small arcade on quarter-play and they have tournaments and stuff. Any of you locals ever been there? It just opened in March. I was originally an art major in college, so this place holds a special spot in my heart. I just wish it were bigger, oh yeah, and about 1,000 miles closer or so. :)

But isn't every arcade technically an art gallery itself?

Gonna be checking this out REAL SOON! I had no idea.

http://cadegallery.com is their official site... 722 N 4th Street, Phoenix, AZ

M-Th 5pm-10pm
F 9pm-1am
Or by appt

That's like right next to me. Thanks for finding that!!!

Whoa, they even have a high score page... http://cadegallery.com/scores/ I will have to see if I can beat any of those. I'll try to swing by tonight, if they're open. Their last "featured artist" is more than a month old...? :( Hope they're still around.

I know for a fact that the Defender score is really low. My old roommate used to get like 1 million points, or something. I think he said it was a game he could even flip...?

good write up, and great to see places like this still popping up around.

ChaosJohn, yes you are correct they are all artwork all diff and in there own right...Quote of the year!

I'll have to check this out over the weekend.

Well, Dave, I 1-upped ya. :D

Since Brien/Joe blew me off tonight, I decided to check it out on my way home.

Still up and running, and badass. I met both owners, Weston and Nathan, and spent a few hours there talking shop, arcade stuff, game fixes, yadda yadda yadda. (And once again, thanks to Brien for throwing some advice at them. They have a Mortal Kombat that resets a lot. Probably a heat issue.)

I also suggested they become forum members and post up here. ;) I think Weston said that he already was a member here.

I will be going back. A lot. Dave, let me know if/when you do, it's only 5 minutes from my house...

I shot a few videos, need to upload them to Facebook and then link them here...

Whoa! I just checked out the write-up on gameroom junkies, and I actually know one of the owners- sorta. I haven't seen Weston in over a decade, but we did Shotokan together for many years back in the 90s. Small world.

I'll definitely let you know if I go check it out, Jawhn. Maybe Friday night?

As long as it's after 9:00. And text me to remind me. And also... Go to CAX.

Greetings, KLOV members and thanks for the amazing write-up, Preston! CADE's been open just over two months and we've had great response. The people we've met are priceless and the greatest complements are from those who say we've brought back the arcade feeling from their youth. Oh, yeah... cabs are super addictive! We love bringing machines out of rough states.

You can see the current artist on the front page of http://cadegallery.com/ and past artists at http://cadegallery.com/artists/. Hope to see jawhn and the other forum members soon.

Can you post which games you have there? I added your place to the arcade finder over at http://www.aurcade.com but I wanted to make sure I had all the games. The pics on your site had the games arranged differently in a couple of them, plus there was one just labeled "CADE" (multicade?) and a cocktail (which I assumed was Ms Pac, since you had a high score for Ms Pac on your high score page). Also, if you do have Ms Pac, is it regular speed or turbo? Thanks :)
