Ever Sacrifice A Body Part To Save A Game From Getting Damaged

Happened to me tonight...I finally get the energy to move a couple games downstairs so they are out of living room and I don't have to get bitched at anymore by the girlfriend....
I'm working on the 2nd game and almost have it down the stairs when it kind of slides to one side...I see that its going to hit the banister and likely ding it up so I slide my hand in between...."OUCH...M*ther F*cker" Yes..the things we do to save our games...now my hand is bruised but the game is saved...ohh well...on to game number three..the saga continues...

I've smashed a finger or two moving a cab, luckily nothing major. There have been plenty of chances for disaster though.

Moving my 25" Dynamo Cut Corner cab on a dolly across un-even grass, it tipped to the side, so I stuck my leg out to stop it... It didn't stop, twisted my knee and took me to the ground with it. Luckily I softened the landing and the cab was unhurt... I however walked with a limp for a week.

yeah ive done the old bearhug and fall routine just to save the thing from smashing the floor... the things we do for our addiction.... err hobby

Tried to stop a Crystal Castles from falling off the hand truck using my knee. The game won... :( Rolled right off the hand truck onto the front of the game...

Did more damage to me then it did the game.

So now I check the air in my tires BEFORE using...

Use a furniture dolly with hard tires. Those bouncy pneumatic tire ones are an accident waiting to happen.

a friend of mine was helping me handtruck my dk3 down the basement stairs and asshole wasn't paying attention and the cab jumped off the handtruck! the only thing between the game and the bottom of the stairs and wall was me! all on me. so i was wedged between the game and the wall. it could have ended badly for me and the game.

Nevermind about you! How is the game... ;)

Ditto. Except with an Outrun being taking into my enclosed trailer.

I just posted up my miraculous save my buddy did a couple days ago for the very same thing...wheeling down Mario bros...one tire went flat and the game dove to the left. I put everything I Had into hanging onto it but there was nothing else I could besides that. Just as I was losing hope and strength, one of my friends showed up out of nowhere and was able to stand it back up on the truck. WHEW!

It depends on what kind of surface you're rolling across. The inflated tires take a lot of bounce and bump out of a rough surface while the hard wheels transfer all the movement directly to the cabinet.

Also, the inflated rubber wheels are great for crossing yards/driveways/etc.

I agree 100%! I use an appliance dolly with a strap.

I haven't physically hurt myself moving games but I have strained myself pretty bad. I was moving my Strider that I had just restored into a moving van and I had push it over the yard which was uneven. I hit a dip in the yard and the game got completely sideways! I was like "DAMN DAMN DAMN NO NO NO NO NO!!". Somehow I found the strength to keep it up and that sucker was almost completely sideways. About an hour later when the adrenaline dropped off I felt it in my back. It took a good month for the pain to go away!

If it wasn't for the strap on my dolly that game would have been on the ground.

I got in between a Zaxxon and the ground one time when it was falling off the back of a trailer in order to prevent damage, totally an instinctual reaction not thought involved, and it hit me then hit the ground anyway. Got some pretty big bruises, but that was all. Won't be doing that again... especially for a Zaxxon. ;)

Uhhhh--- my back! Later on you realize you should of let that sucker fall!
