I dont know why but i just remembered this. 7 years old, playing Elevator Action when this really tall guy walks up and watches - i remember it being very distracting (and Intimidating), his height and how skinny he was. He waited his turn and stepped up to play - this guy dwarfed the taito cab by far - i will never forget that hunch just to get situated with the controls.

I recall he played well, looked down at me, smiled, said he was getting one of these for his house. I asked my parents who he was - It was Daryl Dawkins....

Nice! He has great taste in video games as well, although I've heard the guy who has the record is a db.

I ran into Chastity Bono in an arcade years ago. She was trying to use a joystick to play Centipede, but it didn't work.

Back when they had game auctions at the SJ-EXPO center Bam & some of his budz from Jackass fame were there & bought a few games.

I hate to think what they did with them... They don't strike me as the type of people who collect arcade games... They come off as more the type of people who would fill the cab with gunpowder and blow it up.

Not an arcade, but while waiting in line at a SIGGRAPH conference to play a prototype Atari arcade game I realized the woman behind me was Laurie Anderson. Strangely, the second time I had run into her at a computer graphics event.

The Atari game was an unfinished San Francisco Rush. Only one car was playable and the AI cars were untextured polygons and *very* aggressive. (The guys showing off the game went out of their way to explain that this was to be fixed later.)

If you've ever watched Viva La Bam you can see he has them in his house. I believe it's in the episode where they live like the 1800's.

As for myself, I've seen Wayne Brady at the Dave & Busters in NYC a few years ago. Surprisingly, no one was screaming "I'M WAYNE BRADY BITCH!"

Surprising enough, I saw an episode of MTV Cribs with Bam on there, and he has a pretty decent arcade at his place.

Steve Harris of Iron Maiden at Circus Circus in Vegas.

Mike Muir of Suicidal Tendencies at (Game Works?) in Vegas.

Jonathan Davis of Korn in China Town Los Angeles hole in the wall arcade.

Corey and Tina Yothers at La Puente Lanes arcade. Digging deep on that one.

Might be more.

Not sure if this counts... we encountered GWAR (out of costume) in an arcade on Vine Street in Cincinnati around 1991. It was right before a concert at Bogarts (the local club). Someone asked Dave Brockie to sign his shirt, and he wrote "I hate you --Oderus." Awesome.

I met Shinya Arino of the Japanese TV Show Game Center CX (aka Retro Game Master if you've played the DS game) and the comedy duo Yoiko at an arcade and bought him a round of a Neo Geo soccer game (The Next Glory: Super Sidekicks). He had wanted to play Metal Slug but the demo had changed to the soccer game before I'd put the coins in - crap  Still had a good time, he beat me 1-0.

My dad used to own an arcade across from the Baltimore Civic Center (now1st mariner arena). Some of the WWF. Wrestlers used to come in, among others. One day my dad was sitting in his office, and the change girl comes in, says "there's a guy out here, says his name is Al Pacino". It really was Pacino. They were shooting "and justice for all," and Pacino was in town. He collects antique penny arcade games, and bought a few that day.

He had another game room that was really popular in Baltimore County. All kinds of people used to come in there. Oprah would come in all the time and play Ms Pacman. She was a news anchor for channel 13 at the time. One time, the kid rap group Another Bad Creation was in town (chillin at the playground). They pulled up in a limo, with their groupies in tow. Had to turn people away because the arcade reached maximum capacity.

He had another game room up in Easton pa at the Palmer park mall. It was either Larry holmes or riddick bowe, would bring their family in all the time to play games.

Julius Erving / Dr. J - he had his son's birthday party at the Aladdin's Castle I worked at for a while back in 1990. Awesome dude. He mostly just sat back in the corner and videotaped everything.
