Ever pick up a working 90's game for parts for your 80's machines??? First I would never do this with a Classic 80's arcade... I consider many 90's jamma machines throw away cabs. Sorry to the younger guys that that missed the golden age.

I picked up a working Run and Gun today, its running Run and Gun 2. I figured that I would use the 2 nice working burn free k7000 monitors in some of my other machines. Also had 2 nice coin doors. The topper is awesome with built in speakers figured I could use that for something too.

Looks like the one in this picture but the topper is different much cooler, and mine has no art.

Not really sure what to do with it now?? Got it to a buddy's garage set it up and we started playing. Played for 2 hours. Its actually pretty cool.

Bought a King of Boxer conversion in a Boomr Rang'r cab from a fellow KLOVer as I desperately needed a monitor for the Ms Pac cab.
The cab itself served a purpose too in the end as I made it a mame cab for my brother.
The thing was falling apart with water damage on arrival and left looking beautiful after a quick restoration...Never did take pics of it, but he plays it nightly and has it in his garage as we speak :)

I actually did the same exact thing with a Run and Gun about three weeks back, nobody wanted it complete for $200 even, so I ended up taking out two nice K7000s as well!

Red T-Molding, some custom graphics....I envision DOUBLE KOMBAT!!!
MK2 on the left and UMK3 on the right.....FINISH THEM BOTH! MUHAHAHA!!

Yea was talking with a buddy. maybe thats the way to go different game on each side maybe a 19-1 on one side and either the new arcadeshop board on the other or something else. I need to find out if the new arcadeshop board supports a VGA monitor. Custom Marquee on top??

Yea this guy had it on CL a few times for around $200 IIRC. Then he listed it for $50 yesterday. Both monitors had awesome pictures, could not pass it up. Im going to leave the Run and Gun 2 in it for now, until we decide the best use for the cab.

I picked up 2 games for $20 each. A capcom bowling (Ms pac) and a final fight (turtles). Got both working in about 5 min (interlock switch on one and a disconnected AC wire on the other). The Ms pac has a burn free g07 and the turtles cab has a fairly nice 4900. Both cabs are probably worth saving so I will probably just keep them jamma for a while and put multi boards in them. Eventually I might convert the Ms pac back and keep the stern cab as a test rig.

I haven't really bought anything for parts but if it was some turd that was working and I needed a good 19" monitor or something like that, I probably would. Around here, if I did that and wanted to get rid of the cabinet afterwards, I would probably have to cut it up into small pieces and throw it out with the trash, though.

When I bought my Space Duel cabinet to do my VectorMAME project, I bought a working game on eBay with an offer. My offer was for $200 less than the seller wanted, but he got to keep the board after I saw the game working. He thought it was a good offer and I got a known working monitor and supporting transformer and ARII. I only bought what I needed. I have everything I've taken out and the changes could be 100% reversed if it ever needs to be a pure Space Duel again.

Kinda off topic but I picked up a Black Widow for the monitor and gave the rest of the parts away.

When it comes to vector monitors - especially color ones - I bet this happens regularly. Hard to find them.

See, this is the problem with you old farts... no vision.

Many of the newer games are completely bad ass but you don't care because they hold no nostalgia for you so you think they are worthless. I saw the same thing growing up with a father who collected classic cars:

When I was a kid my father collected classic cars. He ran around with a large group of guys and they all thought the only cars that had any value were manufactured pre WWII. Occasionally a car from the late 1960's or early 1970's would fall into their laps and they would immediately scavenge parts from it and then discard the carcass. Here is a quick run down of a small portion of "worthless crap only good for parting out" that came through our garage:

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona (two of them)
1970 Plymouth Super Bird
1971 Plymouth Barracuda (five total, two convertables three hard tops)
1965 Ford Mustang (honestly, more than I can remember)
1967-69 Chevy Camaro (again, more than I can remeber and there were a few Firebirds in the mix also)
And there were many, many more...

Please people, learn from the mistakes of our predecessors. Jamma era games, especially those in unique cabs or with unique control set ups are worth saving...

I bet this same type of parting out scenario happened to numerous 6 player X-Men machines over nearly 20 years. Personally I'm a huge fan of the game and that particular 6 player setup holds a lot of memories for people like me. They are just so massive to deal with moving and what not that I'm sure many were parted out just for the two K7000 25" monitors when the game didn't pull in the coin anymore. I agree with Oryk that unique games like that should be preserved, but I'm also admittedly biased. ;) I love my pre-JAMMA classics, but I love my JAMMA classics too since that's mostly my era.

So what do one of these Run Gun 2's go for in nice shape? Saw one listed locally for $150 and already talked to the seller about it. Just such a BEAST (same issue as my Nintendo Dual Vs. cab)

+1

People need to realise arcade games were still big in the 90's and those games are nostalgic for others.

And what about the 2000's? You think these games are garbage too? LOL

Two words: You. Bastard.

;)

It's an underrated game, so I'm sure most people don't give a shit and if no one else in your area wanted it...then tough titties I guess. It just happens that this is one of the cabinets I've been wanting to eventually snag for the last 10 or so years. Run N' Gun 1/2 is so much fun on the dual screen set up. Especially if you get a 2 vs. 2 going.

If for some reason the empty wood winds up on a truck to the bay on the way to a landfill, I'd totally step up and save it. :)

Oryk,if you want this cab minus the monitors come get it, your only a few hours away. I will give it to you:) If you think its worth restoring this 90's jamma machine its yours. It has no artwork. You can have both the original run and gun pcb, and the run and gun 2 pcb thats in it now. I will even help you load the beast.:D

Let me know if you want it, I will throw it on a pallet for your shipper... Cab inst horrible, but you will have to do some wood work. mame marquees might be able to reproduce the art??

can't we all just get along, golden era vs. 90's or 00's, jamma vs. non jamma, vector vs. non, tween wave music vs. "our generations music"......
