Ever miss out on a good deal and have a sigh of relief?

I don't make these kind of posts often but it really is good that I missed this deal. I had a good line on a nice VS. Excitebike and was going to get a killer deal on it but I simply can't afford it now as a college student. Not to mention my roommate can be a real tool when it comes to bringing another game into the apartment.

I was sweating it for a day trying to figure out a way to transport the game and tell my roommate another game was coming into the apartment. Finally I bit the bullet and called the guy back to tell him I was coming to get it because $100 for a nice VS. Excitebike was too good to pass up. He told me he was really sorry but someone came to get it this morning. Suddenly my mind was clear and I really didn't mind missing out. This hobby can really consume you and sometimes things happen for the best I've learned :)

And then sometimes you get something home, and think "WTF was I thinking!?"...I post this while looking at the Virtual On sitting in my living room.

Hey, free is free!

Ghostly I was saying how I've realized missing out on a deal can be a good thing!

@ IJTFCinder I can definitely see that reaction even if you picked it up for free. I had a complete but non-working Time Crisis 2 cab in my garage and I was thinking what the hell am I going to do with this thing, even if I parted it out there's no decent place to put the cab or dispose of it(gasp). Hopefully you'll find something good to do with it! It's a cool game for sure but if it's not 100% I can see it being a headache.

There was a Pole Position on Feebay from a seller like 3 blocks from my house that had "issues". It was before I knew what a pain Pole Position machines could be. I think it went for like $100. Glad I missed sniping the auction.

Both sets of boards are there, the only thing missing is the monitors, which I have drop in replacements for and one power supply.
It's "supposed" to be working, I trust the guy as he owns an arcade and he just wanted it for the monitors. Even if it isn't, I'll (gasp for you!) MAME it and run Virtual On on it on startup somehow...finding boards for it would be nuts, especially 2 sets as they're linked units of 2 huge cages of boards.

absolutely! more often than not i get invoved in buying way too much. it's a sense of relief and a moment of clarity when it doesnt happen.

Sure! Sometimes when a good deal is far away, it can be a toss up. You end up thinking: "bummer that I missed out on game X, but at least I didn't have to drive 6 hours for it."

This happens to me all the time...i hate the feeling. Sometimes im at work, or with the kids, and someone get ahold of me, and tells me..."if you come get this game right now, its 50$" you know its a steal, but you cant get there

ive gotten better with it though...

I was gonna pick up a few huge cabs recently and passed. You know, those ski games.

If it's a classic, at least they are usually pretty small and you can keep it in the garage or elsewhere.

Lately I have been selling off the project games. No time or space available.

There was a pacman pinball in Jacksonville a couple weeks ago, nonworking but complete, for 250. I just made another buy and had no cash, but couldnt let it sit there at that price, know what I mean:D Fortunately, someone else picked it up before I had to figure out where to get the cash from:rolleyes:

Whoops! I worded it wrong. Yes I like it when a tempting game on craigslist is gone.:)

Whenever those deals come along and you don't want them just send a fellow Virginian the info. I'll bite the bullet and buy them. :D

Sounds good! I'll keep that in mind. But you know as well as I that nothing that is a steal lasts more than a couple hours on Richmond and DC craigslists! Perhaps if I know of an insider deal that I'm having trouble passing on I'll let you(or others) know. :)

Pssh,I wish I was even presented with the opportunity.Finding games around here is tough, and finding good deals even tougher.
