I had a bad week. Nothing tragic, and I am fully aware I have it better than many people (not a brag, just a realization here), but I was in a funk.

My Atari System 1 has had issued from day 1. Controls not working all the time, probably need new header pins on the motherboard. Got working on my Hyperball, and ended up worse than whe I started. Black Knight is locking up again, and the MEgatouch is acting up now too.

Every have a week that made you say "Why Bother?".

Sorry, It was a crap week at work too, so maybe that's part of it. I'm still lucky to have what I do, but is it wrong to want to have machines that WORK???!!!

At least a bright ray of sunshine arrived in the form of keychains from OldTymeToys. That made my week!

If you're gonna let shit go cheap again, I'll round up the vultures! Haha
Good luck with the fixes! ;)

yep.. every week. Especially when you have a 19X19 room, and a 8 X 14 den, and there's 50 machines in them, in various states of complete, empty, broken, or cab torn apart.

I decided when i get a building put up behind the house, then i'll consider getting back in to the hobby. By the end of January, i plan on owning 3 machines total and that's it.

but dont you find it ironic that you receive keychains which will make it even easier for you to find the keys to the cabinets that you are working on? :D

i had a rough week at work and am multitasking now.. and i desperately need to get to the garage to work on multicades.

Yep... I have those weeks every now and then. I usually step back for a few days to let my frustration cool, then methodically fix each game one by one. It seems overwhelming when multiple games break, but it's even worse if you try to work on them all at once (unless they're simple fixes).

Yep. Everybody has those kinds of weeks. I have been putting in way too much overtime at work (I'm salary so it doesn't matter how many hours I put in :().

I picked up a totally dead board last night and started tracing signals. I have worked on this board off and on for a few months. I got to a chip that I have looked at probably 40 times before, but last night noticed something odd. Traced it back and the next chip was acting bad. Popped it out and checked again. The next upstream chip was also bad. Popped that one out and suddenly had a mostly working board again. Just have to figure out why black is red on the video (hint: it is not the monitor). It was one of those cases where I was looking for one root cause, but there were actually multiple things wrong.

Between that and a couple of eBay items showing up, a sh*tty week became a nice night. So just hang in there, don't let it overwhelm you.

Sorry to hear about your week, Chris. I've definitely been there but things do turn around. Hang in there, bro!

Dont quit Chris!

But if you do.. I got dibs on Smash tv:) <-- vulture in training

Seriously.. these things are 30 years old. You cant expect them not
to break down. just roll with it.. Look at it this way. You got
4 projects to work on over the holidays.

Grab a 6 pack and your tools and geter done.

That's interesting, you know what makes me sad?

YOU DO. Maybe we should chug on over to mamby-pamby land where maybe we can find some self-confidence for you, ya jackwagon.

Tissue? Crybaby.

:D :lmao:

Tell me when to come over, and we'll get some of them fixed up!

I've had some of those weeks. I went a good 6 months straight without any issues and I was really excited about a party we were having. During the party Lord of the Rings (pinball), Asteroids, A.P.B., Spy Hunter, the MAME, and Tron all went down. We still had plenty to play, but it really sucked and made me feel like just throwing my hands up and walking away for a while.
