So my wife sends me this JPG she wanted to know if she should use for an avatar, and I said "This is the picture I see in my head whenever I am looking at Craig's List and thinking to myself 'can I afford this EM pinball?'"

A little mental image of this:

Comes up.

I told her that, she fell out laughing and said "You should post that on that little group of yours."

"Little group of yours," indeed.

You guys ever get that look when you casually mention a game or pin? She's good about my hobby, don't get me wrong, but she claims that you should be able to walk a straight line from the door to my desk in my office, and I think there's room for a juke or pin in there - but you might have to make a few turns to get to the phone.

I always talk the game up right before I say I found one locally. Ive been on my last game for the last 3. I have a bought a few games just for the sake of conversion and this seems to get me nagged the most with questions like why do you have to change the game.

i don't get a look or a single word about buying a game.. mine starts treating me like shit a few days later and when i finally get out of her whats bothering her it's "wasting money on games" lol this past week it was the digital contractor grade tablesaw i bought.. but damn.. my old tablesaw had a bearing go out and was pretty much junk. I got the new one barely used for 300.00 couldn't pass it up.

When I told my wife about the captain's chair she said go ahead and get it. If you want it now sell a couple of things you don't want anymore. I was astonished. They seem to know when something is really important at times. But I have gotten that look before. Many times in
twelve years.

Ha ha I like the one about the table saw.

If I buy a tool, I have to build her something (shelf, table, etc) and then it's fine.

And, I have had the 3 days later reaction once or twice too - she'll say no problem, then a few days to a week later it comes out that she's annoyed.

But again, she mostly doesn't mind, she just doesn't get it...

My other half doesnt say squat about the games. She actually likes them since they keep the kids safe in the house, she knows where the kids are and she plays them too.

That and games are the reason we can pay our mortgage and buy food!

Oh that's my wife's Visa bill look! Yes I know it well. That's usually my cue to slink away to the garage to be with all of the things that prevent her from parking her car in her garage. Then the door to the garage opens, and she doesn't need to say a word. It's time - to get 'the talk' that goes along with 'the face'. *sigh* Here she comes again. :(

I don't get that look. I asked about that once and I was told, "I don't mind. It keeps you happy. I know where you are. And I know there isn't another woman involved."

I think it's the last sentence that is soooo telling...:D

I get that look regularly... and it's followed by the "get your crap out of the living room/dining room talk... followed by the "you have a garage, storage location, and TWO buildings for your crap and you still keep getting more!"

Thus... the race car project is being sold to free up room. ;)

But, that only brought up the topic of the money I spent on a membership at http://www.eaglescanyon.com

DOH!

I used to get that look... but it eventually turned into an "eye roll" followed by a *sigh*.

me too, but my wife gave up and became supportive. i just don't usually mention the actual dollar amounts that go into games unless it's a lot and it's a pretty serious buy.

Yep - I get that whenever I mention something I want to get. The wife rarely goes into the garage, and when she came out to get me the other day, I got that look along with "there's too many games in here!"

Maybe I'll give up this hobby and hook up with a hot 20 year old chick.

Then who will be sorry!

:)

Oh yeah that's the look allright.

Got it two days ago as I bought BIGGER,BETTER and LOUDER center and rear speakers for our 5.1 reciever.
I show em and I get: THE LOOK.

I (all excited): But now Terminator 2 wil sound better, and all other movies as well you know..
She: THE LOOK!! (again)

I have gotten the look so many times! She is actually very supportive of the hobby, however the I'm gonna buy this game cheap and flip it, does not work any more since I have not flipped a game yet! So, now she keeps me grounded saying do you really want this? She did ride with me to look at a Tron that was just completely trashed....
