So I was doing some stuff in the basement last night. My wife was out shopping.

Working intently on a playfield teardown, when all of a sudden a voice I did not expect says "The Black Knight will slay you....ha ha ha ha ha ha"

Well, I had forgotten this game was on, and just about crapped myself.

Anyone else ever have an attract mode scare the crap out of you?

Chris

Never had one with attract sound, but my first restored pin was left on all night once. Marathon test!

Not an issue when I found it either! A testiment to the great resto job I did and still a reliable machine.

Yea something similar happened to me a couple months ago. I went into the basement and turned on my T-Mek fully intending to get some playing done. I went back upstairs, I think to get something to drink, proceeded to get side-tracked and went to the second floor of the house where we have the computer to check emails. Came back down to the first level and sat on the couch to watch T.V. when I hear this loud "explosion" come from the basement. Totally forgot the T-Mek was on...

I've accidentally left my DK cabaret on a few times. Usually it's because I plug it in to go play it and then get sidetracked by something else. Luckily it's never had any problems and has been a pretty solid machine.

The guys at work are bad about leaving my games on over night. I have done it once or twice at the house. Never had one scare me though.

Tetris upright. Left it on one night after working on it in the garage. Walked out there the next AM to get some bagels out of the chest freezer. The attract sound hit me just as I was turning to go back in the house. I jumped easily a foot off the ground. MAN the attract sound on Tetris is LOUD.

I sure have. My Super Chexx game has a default attract sound every couple of minutes -- it's the sound of an abrupt cheering crowd. I've jumped out of my skins on multiple occasions when I left it on after playing it and forgot about it. "RAAAHHHH!" Nothing like having a couple thousand people screaming at you suddenly and unexpectedly when you're sitting on your couch.

A couple weeks ago, I had all my rasters on one evening and ran out for an errand, but ended up staying out all night with friends. I got home late and went to bed and about halfway through the next day I noticed some lights in the basement. I went down and was like who the hell turned these on? Then it hit me that I forgot to turn them off the night before. I panicked for a second, but everything was fine. Luckily I hadn't turned on any vector games!

I've left a poker machine on for a week. It is a MAME-deal so it was fine since PC's can be on for months without a hitch. I saw the glow from my basement and thought that I had left the light on. Got my stress test in!

Stress test for the owner more than the machines sometimes, when the blood pressure skyrockets and your internal voice goes "oh crap, what's fried itself on what machine because i left them on so long". :)
