I re-capped a 33K8000 earlier and had several caps that were of higher voltage values in the chassis than what were in Bob's kit. while there's a likelihood that this chassis was re-capped by someone else previously and that their replacement caps were simply of higher voltage values than what were in it originally, I didn't want to risk it.

the reason why I even capped this was because the horizontal position will not move the screen to the right. it's not quite at foldover state on the left side, but it's definitely outside the viewable area.

in the corner of the deflection board next to the width coil there is a horizontal size pot (it's not on the remote board) and next to that is a cap that wasn't included in the kit. it's a large 10uf 50V cap (there were 3 other caps of the same value but were the tiny kind, what's the difference?). would that have anything to do with the horizontal position problem I have?

I understand these are a rare breed and very difficult to tangle with cause of their obscure nature, but I'm sure someone not named Chad Entriger has mucked with them before.

I've only had the honor of working on one K8000.....and it kicked my ass, and it was a 25". Regarding the larger than usual cap......if it's massively bigger than usual.....it's probably a high frequency cap. High frequency caps are usually 5-10 times larger than their "normal" counterparts. I've seen a few high frequency non-polar caps on a handful of Wellls-Gardner models.

it was actually relatively easy to work on, it's open and more spread out than a K7000. it's just VERY complex. there's even like a small filter board on the input header, I really wish I knew what half this shit does.

there was a lot of joints with flux residue on the power supply board too (I took it out thinking there were caps in the kit for it too... not so), mostly replaced transistors, so I'm led to believe it was worked on previously. this machine's from 1994, it's had to have been.

I'll have to compare the rough list Bob has to what I came up with, maybe there's values for caps outside the kit in it.

I'm even more confused by the fact that this line came in standard and medium res, and I can't necessarily pinpoint what Ridge Racer runs, though some people have said it's standard.
