I don't mean playing the actual game you bought, but actually never having played the title. At all.

Just wondering. I did this today, and I don't think I will regret it, but we'll see.

LOL

Yeah i bought a crystal castles a long time ago(lame game, but a cool cab) it all worked out in the end, i traded it for a punch out even up, and later after growing tired of it, i sold it for a hundred more than i bought crystal castles for.

Sure. Shaq Attaq, Street Fighter 2, Terminator 3...only because the price was right and I have since sold them all.

Only once, from this guy that was so sick of it he sold it for like $25. ;)

Honestly, even when I play a pin out in the wild I find it very hard to determine whether I will really like it at home. Its so frickin loud in most places that you cant hear the callouts, and figuring out the rules on a pin can take some time...More time than a game or two allows. At least for me, I like getting them into the gameroom, then really diving in. I may end up liking it or hating it (pretty rare that i've 'hated' a pin). Then I sell it or keep it for a while.

If they had a netflix for pins (pinflix?), I'd sign up.

so yes, I've purchased MOST of my pins after either only playing them one or two times or not at all.

My first arcade purchase was a Space Firebird cocktail. I had never heard of this game before I saw it at a collector's garage. He offered a great price, and since I was keen to get into the hobby, I bought it without powering it up. My initial plan was to convert it to 60-in-1 but after getting it home and playing with it, I realized that keeping it original was the way to go; turned out everything was original and in very good shape after cleaning it up, and the game was fun to boot. I've acquired a few more cabs since then, and the 60-in-1 is still in its packaging; I'm enjoying the original route.

Yup...
I have about 15 or so pins. The only pins I bought that I had more than a couple games on was AFM and FGY. Darn near all the other I bought completely blind

Almost every game I have ever owned! Arcades and pinball was long gone before I ever played a game of pinball. So when I bought them I had never played BK2k, T2, WH20, Johnny Pnemonic, Time Warp, Fish Tales, HS2 on and on.

IN FACT- I bought a pinball machine before I had ever played a game of pinball EVER.

I bought my Torch broken. It seems that you get what is available. I now have more in it than what it is worth, but I would have never paid that much for it working. The fun is in fixing it and then showing it off.

Well, I'd rather not say until I get it, but I can tell you it will be...."My precious!"

:)

You lucky SOB! I just got home from my local arcade, played it for 2 hours this afternoon. Want one so bad! Anyhoo, I picked up both Twilight Zone and Jurassic Park without playing either.

IF I had played Space Shuttle it was a hell of a long time ago. I was born in 81. Pinbot I had never played other than the NES version.

Todd Tuckey has a bunch of vids on Youtube, I've actually made a purchase decision based on one of his videos. Without actually seeing the rules and such explained by his video, I may very well have passed on the game just by looking at it.

Yeah, I had never played any pins before buying them. I only ended up with one I didn't like. Hollywood Heat, and man was that game terrible. It worked out, I traded it straight up for a Police Force.

Swords of Fury, I made my mind up to sell it within a week or two.

Jurassic Park: The Lost World, sold it within a couple months.

I think the theme of buying a pin without having really played it is going to become more common as there's less games on location to try before buying.

I bought a NIB Iron Man without playing it...and Transformers LE without playing it (or the Pro).

I've bought plenty of used games that I'd maybe played here and there - but sometimes that barely counts since they're always broken or dirty or silent on location. So sometimes I'll buy a game if the price is right - just to clean it up and have the experience of playing a nice shopped out example. Sometimes I unexpectedly end up loving the game (BK2K, Fish Tales, Elvis...) ...sometimes I have a little fun, then sell it.
