Ever been there? Just cannot muster energy to fix a simple problem?

For about 6 months my DE Simpson's pinball has been blowing the fuse associated with the backbox GI. It's not a burnt connector and I've checked that there isn't a shorted bulb.

But I just cannot muster the energy to dig into this problem. Ever been there?

It's odd since I find repairing and tinkering around with the games to be MORE fun than playing them. But in this case... well... I always find something else to do.

Am I unique in this?

Nope...avoided my Asteroids for a month. Last time up it was beeping...failed some power on test (Braze Kit)...finally fired it up yesterday and no error...my high scores were gone, but everything seemed to work fine.

Now my Arabian has a bad connection someplace on the chassis...one minute picture....then zzzt - no picture (plays blind)...jiggle the focus/screen block by the flyback and picture comes back on. Probably simple fix, and I also have a WG I can just swap into it and save the one in there for another day....but no motivation.

I have needed to adjust one of the tilt switches on my Pinbot for months now. Maybe someday...

I am this way with EVERY repair . I like playing more than fixing .

You are not alone. I got my Defender to excellent condition... Replaced overlay and buttons, cleaned it inside and out, upgraded RAM to 4164 and it was perfect. Now it won't start a 2 player game and it isn't just something stupid like a switch issue.

It might still be a semi-easy fix, but it's just 1 player games until I work up to dealing with it again.

It will take me 10 minutes to reflow the solder joints on my Neo Geo's monitor.

Eh...Ill do it tomorrow....

I probably had my worst case of burn out over the summer. I simply lost all desire to work on anything. I finally started working on some of my easier projects and today really started hammering out several that has been pushed aside for awhile. Hoping for a productive fall the heat and my work has sucked this summer.

I've filled in all my Donkey Kong 3 cabinet wood chips with wood filler and it's sat like that for over a year. Can't muster up the energy to sand, prime & paint and apply new artwork......

I wish I had this problem....I am the opposite! If something is broken I need to fix it ASAP! Many of times I've stayed up late, because a problem appeared right before I was going to go to bed. Knowing that it would bug the shit out of me the next day, I crack open a beer and the toolbox.

i've had a backlog of reproduction cabs for over a year now. I kept taking more orders and the list got longer and longer. With impending back surgery, every day in the shop is just torture, and i've been doing 10 - 14 hour days. Usually end up getting back spasms and have to quit for the night. ugh.

My Neo Geo 1-slot w/138-in-1 has been down for three months because the player-2 start button broke (physically broke -- the button fell out of the housing) and I've been too lazy to change it out. You need both player start buttons for the 138-in-1's menu system, so it's a pain to use with a broken button.

Do I win the thread? :D

I have had a complete, clean Spyhunter for 6 years with no cord. It was cut off.

Still sitting, no cord. It could work fine? Who knows?

I do have a new cord ready, just haven't had the oomf to install it.

LOL. That's insane. :)

At least check the linear power board and make sure there's not a battery on it. That's less effort than replacing the cord and could save you a ton of grief later. :)

qbert sound and asteroids spot killer have been waiting years now. sigh.

Wow! For the most part, I'm not alone here! :)

Maybe I'll get to that DE Simpsons GI problem this weekend...

I'd rather work on games than play them. That being said, when the weather turns to $#it around here, as it does 5 months out of the year, I find it hard to want to go out to the garage, heat it up, blah blah blah....Also my garage is SO packed with friggin games right now I'm running out of space to work! I HATE working when I have to get out the dolly, jockey crap around, dig for my tools, ......
