Hi there !

eurocade.jpg

I would like to share with the KLOV community that , of course inspired by the idea of CAX, we organize a similar meeting in Europe.

It is called Eurocade and the goal is to make it en annual event.

The 2011 edition will be held on saturday september 3, 2011 from 10.00 till 0.00 hrs in Ridderkerk (near Rotterdam), The Netherlands.

Of course, the collecting community in Europe is (a lot) smaller, but still I think Eurocade 2011 is already looking to become a huge success. We have people attending from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark and even as far away as Hungary !

About 35 machines will be there, and although nowhere near the numbers of CAX, the selection of games is absolutely top-notch !

The main difference with CAX is that it will not be totally open for the public, which has a lot to do with the location and goal of the meeting.

Anyway, you can find all the required information right here:

http://www.eurocade.eu

Please note, although we mostly mention "European" collectors, of course other collectors from around the globe are warmly welcome too should they happen to be in the neighborhood !

Thanks, André (Level42 on about all the arcade forums)

Sounds like fun...if I wasn't halfway around the world ;) I sent a message to Aart/PacWhiz on another forum, he's from Den Haag, so he can't be too far away.

Indeed he's very close (about half an hour by car) !!! I've actually been in mail contact with him about coming over...thanks for forwarding :)

Only downside if he comes: no-one else is going to be able to play the Galaxian ;) ;) ;)

But it would be ultimatily cool to have a World Champion at Eurocade !!!

so he can't be too far away.

Nothing is too far away in Holland. :)

Sorry I never got a chance to stop by the last time we were out your way Level42, family matters kept us busy for our short stay. Maybe next time.....

Eurocade 2011 sounds like it oughta be pretty cool.
I know things like that are scarce around there.

Indeed, would have been cool if you could have made it but I understand how it goes.

It's funny, every 5th of May I think about you because every year the film "Soldier of Orange" is on TV ;)

Hope all is well, and indeed would be great if you can make it next time....

We'll be in the US this summer, East coast.

OK finished the Google Sketchup so far.

Well it was a LOT of work, but it was fun to do. I think it looks pretty impressive.
A lot of "shuffling around" was done to get an optimal situation. DO NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT SET IN STONE. In fact, I simply followed the list and added the cabs. It may very well be that we do a lot of Shuffling around. F.I. I think it might be cool to create a "Star Wars" area with the pin, cockpit and Trilogy together. Maybe we can also move the Pac machines together and the same for the Nintendo games. We'll see about it, I just wanted to know if everything will fit. So far, it looks like we have plenty of room, I placed the machines with some decent space between them.

I did go for the "best case" situation, i.e. all the "maybe" cabs are in there. Of course I couldn't find 3D models for some of the more obscure cabs, so I used something else and put the name above it.

Very cool sir. Like the layout you got going on there. Makes me wish I lived way over there so I could see them all in person.

It's BUILD UP DAY TODAY !!!!

Wahooooo can't wait to get started....will be a busy but fun day !

And tomorrow, the biggest and first arcade collectors meeting in Europe will be a reality !!

That is very cool! Smaller in scale than CAX, but an awesome beginning! Jealous! :)

Congratulations André! It looks like everyone was having a great time.

Gary

There are even more scattered around threads on the DLF forum.

Eurocade 2011 was simply brilliant. It was a lot of hard work, but worth every second !

For European standards we had a huge amount of cabs together, and also a huge amount of collectors !

You're not kidding... I think I exceeded my ISP's bandwidth cap for the month just viewing that page. :p

Great pics, thanks for sharing. There was a really nice collection of games there, looks like it was a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear the event was a success.
