Eugene Jarvis playing games at NW Pinball & Arcade Show

Was awesome to talk to Eugene Jarvis at the show. Really nice guy. Here's a vid of him playing some of the games that he made in the early 80's:

He destroyed me at all three games. I love how excited he was to be playing these games. He especially dug Blaster since he hadn't played one in a long time.

Thats so cool! I watched his seminar. Seems like such a cool dude.

Wow that's awesome. Whoever owns that Blaster better not let the memory die since eugenes initials are on it.

Nerdgasm achieved.

He put a high score on my Defender with DRJ for Doctor J :). I need to boot it up soon and see if it is still there.

Curious about his Defender score. He was picking off all the Landers instead of letting them pick up Humanoids and grabbing them in the first wave.

It's amazing how young he was when he invented those games.

And he's still making relevant arcade games today. His driving games are all pretty cool.

very cool vid gary..... did eugene mention anything about possibly attending cax 2012??

Yes Gary, thank you so much!
Without you, I wouldn't have gotten my Blaster signed.
When I arrived Saturday morning around 11, Gary led me to Mr Jarvis and gave me the silver sharpie to get it signed.
(That's me getting a handshake at the end of the game)

I wish you could have seen him when he first noticed a Blaster there. He was really excited since he doesn't see them often. :)

Meeting Eugene Jarvis was freakin' awesome! I'm not usually a fan boy, but Eugene's early games inspired me to teach myself how to program in junior high, which in turn turned into a great career at making games. He's also very down-to-earth.

Also hanging out with David Thiel (audio guy on Q*bert, Mad Planets, etc) and Steve Ritchie. . . what a weekend!

I didn't think to ask if Eugene is going to CAX or not. This year'll be my first time going there. Can't wait!

His talk was awesome as well. It was great hearing the tales of working in the Atari pinball dept, then moving on to Williams to create video games. Both were high ranking positions that he just stumbled into. Steve Ritchie was in the front row and he added to the stories quite a few times. What a great experience!

Nice Blaster! I was happy to get to play a real one for the first time.

This past weekend, Eugene spoke about the culture of video games, Robotron's 30th anniversary and mentioned the NW pinball show in this video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM8GS06ghbU

There are some other videos of him playing Robotron and Smash TV, too. He played to over 1.2mil on Robotron on his first game and played to the end of Smash TV with his wife.
