Eugene Jarvis Explains Robotron Enemy Dynamics

He stated at the party that he has a physics background so the game is basically a dynamic physics puzzle. Which attempts to replicate the unpredictable nature of the real world (context would be games of the time like pacman which were memorized pattern repetition)

by the way, what you read there is 100% his own words and his own desire to share that with us fans. i didn't even correct any typo's or grammar. i think i put (de mar) behind larry's name one time to give proper context.

Eugene vibes on the same wavelength as the people who enjoy this game. no doubt.

I thought that if you shot a hulk enough times it changes direction. Maybe it just appears that way due to the randomness of their movement.

Also I did not know that you can't leave any humans behind in the previous wave in order to get the Mikey bug in brain waves. I could never understand the seeming randomness to getting the bug or not.

yah, i think you probably just happened to match the timeframe on the change in direction. :)

I had something happen the other day on a real machine that I've not noticed before.
a hulk was moving to the right, i moved around it below. and it kind of jerked then went 180 degrees opposite. really odd. i don't know if that was just a very short right angle then another one. or if it was a full 180.

The Mikey trick causes a lot of discussion. Always fun. At the party a 10 million level player wasn't aware of it. I have it organized here for anyone that isn't familiar- http://www.robotron2084guidebook.com/?page_id=36

What I hate, is on the Brain Wave, clearing everything except the spheroid, and you have a ton of people left, and then accidentally killing the last guy... ending the wave with thousands of unclaimed points..

My best so far on Wave 5 was ending with 133K. Most of the time, I end with 120K or so.

Great stuff by Jarvis, fun read.

Was just browsing the site and found this which looks eerily familar :)

Ah yes! You are the master. Hands-down. A service to the Robot battling citizens across the globe. :)

If you want to beef it up with video examples at the various sections, I'll fancy that thing up, too, if you like. (I only got up to 9k before I stopped playing so not capable of making the proper training videos to accompany the tutorial)

Great stuff and some great playing tips. Some of those I kind of knew, but some are definitely new to me and will be useful.

Yeah- I never knew about the 'Mikey bug'.
Messed with it some this weekend. You've got to protect him AND resist picking him up!

hahaha
