Has anyone heard of ESWAT freezing in level 2? I had one ESWAT board, it looked, sounded and played through great until a little into the 2nd level where it froze up everytime. I reseated all the roms, cleaned the contacts, and still no luck. I bought a new board and even installed it in a different cabinet and it freezes in the exact same spot. Any ideas?

Thanks

My first game I bought at auction was eswat and after having it a year or so it began to freeze after maybe 10 minutes of play. It was a ram chip that would heat up and fail intermittently. Since I only paid 30 bucks for it and it wasn't that good a game I just dumpster'd the whole thing. Should have kept the monitor.

Hmm - as unlikely as this sounds it could be the encrypted CPU playing up. I had the exact issue with Moonwalker, the game would run fine until the start of the arcade level. As soon as MJ went through the door it would lock solid. I cant really explain the logic behind it but the level transition did use a funky screen rollback effect that would be very CPU intensive. As soon as I replaced the encrypted CPU with a normal 68000 and burnt new ROMs the problem went away. The contents of the encrypted ROMs were perfect and I even put that code into another pair of EPROMs to rule them out.
